2023-08-10 12:14:10 +0000 UTCIn '77-'79, Star Wars Fever hadn't really found its way to the studios, and "Sci-fi" was still in late-60's/early-70's mode of considering Kubrick's "2001" as coin of the realm. So, when Robert Wise, who had never watched the series but was hired to direct Star Trek 1:TMP on the basis of having directed another highbrow cerebral sci-fi classic, he followed suit and tried to turn it into the light show and last half hour of Kubrick's cosmic-philosophical mindbender. To quote Monty Python, "Start AGAIN!...."

2023-08-09 04:55:47 +0000 UTC"Star Trek: The Motion Picture" is such a stinker of a bad movie. Lots of shots of the cast just standing still watching colored lights be projected onto them. I am sorry you have to endure this one. However, the second film, "Star Trek II : The Wrath of Khan" is the best Trek film ever. Worth getting to watch!
