We talked quite a bit about the different cultures and their inspirations in the first book (especially the fire nation / Japan parallels) ... or he had a serious case of scatter brain and forgot XD

A lot of us have been through deep suffering and have come out the other side wanting to help others through the same. Iroh embodies compassion, humility, and equanimity, and his unconditional love and support of Zuko helps Zuko grow.
