Omg I love this episode so much. Might be one of my absolute favourites ever? As someone who loves horror, but not just horror with dark corridors and screaming monsters, horror with AESTHETICS, I just can't not love this episode! Ba Sing Se is my absolute favourite location from the series (I'm so excited for the netflix adaptation of the second season, I want to see Ba Sing Se so bad), can't wait for you to see more of it! And the music! The creepy Ba Sing Se soundtrack in the end is my favourite in Avatar. I love how the same simple melody can sound very majestic (like when the king arrives) and so so scary when played with strings. This episode would so much less impactful with different music. And yes. Earth Kingdom is the best ⛰️🪨🌳 P.s. Get better soon Veg, don't forget to rest and drink ginseng tea!

Glad to see your improving matey. i like this episode juat fine i guess, the brainwashing scene is definitely creepy as hell. Its not this episodes fault, i just cant help feeling that it is just getting in the way and making me wait a week longer for what is coming 😀 i cant believe were upto a point where were experiencing: ATLA book 2 ep 15/16 And Order o/t pheonix chapter 23 All in the next few weeks!! Some of the very best chapters/episodes in two of my all time favourite franchises. Im so bloody excited!

So sorry about this Jolt! I do try to avoid doing this, but can be tough!

Great reaction! I want to point out that you did speak over one of Iroh's classic lines near the beginning of the episode. Zuko says "I don't want to make a life here." and Iroh responds with "Life happens wherever you are, whether you make it or not."

This is my favorite episode in the entire series. It's not particularly flashy, nor does it have big lore drops, but it's my favorite. The not so subtle hints that things are not as they seem, but the twist still hits you harder than you would ever expect. As the show goes from kidnapping at the party to brainwashing to the disappearing of Joo Dee, it really dawns on you how dangerous this place is to the Gaang. You go from "wow this is some secret police stuff" to "oohhhh we're in deep shit" And I think another reason it hits so hard is that it feels so grounded, because this kind of stuff happens in real authoritarian countries all the time.

Geez, I really hope you get feeling better fast Veggie! That pain sounds awful. "There is no war in Ba Sing Se" is probably my most quoted Avatar line especially after the uh, climate in the past several years lol. This whole episode is so iconic. Oh I just can't wait for you to see how everything turns out. Did you expect it to take so long for us to get back with Appa? Take care 💜 Edit: bring some tissues next time 🗿

Ruins of Wonderland

I believe to remember that it was a daily show after it's first run, but I'm not a 100% sure. But the first run in Germany was weekly. Interestingly they did the thing where they really wanted to make sure that people saw the pilot, so they showed the first 2 episodes every day for a week! Every other episode was on Sunday with reruns Friday and Saturday the next week. Nick Germany was fairly new at that point and they really tried to fill their air time XD We didn't complain!

I love Toph's knowing cynicism about cities and powerful people, which of course ends up being completely justified.

I think here in germany I watched a new episode daily, I cant remember very well tho. It was the absolute highlight of the day, even when the episodes repeated later on, still THE best show and always a sepcial time To me this here is the point where the show in general becomes more mature Thanks for recording this episode and I hope you get well soon

I don't know about the "scariest" but for sure the most unsettling one. Edit: hope you get better, don't stress it, if you need a break you need a break (I should have started with this messages)

I'm glad that you're feeling better! At least a little bit... I didn't feel that it hindered your reaction during the episode really. But to be fair, if there ever was an episode where you are less animated by default: this is it! It wasn't a super comedic one (though Momo kills me this episode!) and it wasn't a fight-centric one either (the fight we did get was awesome though) - it mainly is an episode where we just take everything in and (just like the gaang) slowly go from wonder to dread... This episode scares the potatoes out of my larder!!! The scariest bit of it is how real this mass gas lighting is. This show truly doesn't hold back...

PumpkinSparks

Yea I think we may see veggie tears in the next one.

Cari Ann

I know we've all been saying this since day 1 of you starting the show... But the next episode is amazing and by far my favourite in the entire show!
