Harry Potter Book Cover Submission Post!
Added 2025-09-17 11:39:18 +0000 UTCHi guys! I thought I would make an 'official post' for the Book Cover Collecting! This way, if in future you want to add or suggest more, you can find this easy! I will add it to the 'Collections Tab', called 'Potter Book Cover submissions' so it is even earlier to bring up! :)
PumpkinSparks very kindly agreed to help me out on this project, so please make sure you read her guidelines carefully before submitting entries!

Remember, we WILL be revisiting books that we have already covered the covers for. So feel free to submit more for those, if you like! :) The comments section on the first video recommended several that we didn't cover, so it may be worth going to look at what they were asking for, if you run out of your own!
Oh!! By the way, the covers do NOT need to be ones you have owned or even of your home country! They can be any covers you have seen online or anywhere! Sorry, I should have made that clearer in the inital post.

Okay, I do need to apologize for getting cross with some of you. Turns out most of the things that annoyed me weren't done by you guys, but google being stupid... So due to some confusion in the latest cover review, and some of you saying that you have not filled out your full name in the form but it still showed up on my end, I went into invenstigation mode and found 3 main issues that I would like to address and together find solutions for. 1. even though the settings of the form say that you don't have to be logged into google to fill out the form, it still forces you to do so. Turns out that the upload block only works with Google accounts (doesn't say that anywhere…) and that overrides the settings. I had one person in the beginning telling me they had that issue, but since they did not get back to me after my reply, I assumed it was just a fluke and it corrected itself. Granted, this point is the least of my issues. But I want everyone who wants to to be able to participate. So if someone doesn't have a Google account or does not want to use it, we should find a solution! 2. I got very confused why most people added their name at the ant of the file name. Not a big issue, but certainly a choice I could not grasp and often those names did not line up with the submitted names. Turns out that Google does that automatically! Again, for some reason not always, don't ask me why… But most of the times they would automatically add the username to the files you upload. Here are some solutions to that issue: - we ignore that - I rename every file and delete the names - I find a third-party add-on that allows us to upload to my drive without that issue (might also help with Problem 1) - we use a different option than using Google form - I would need some recommendations for that one… The last 2 Options are somewhat time intensive and warrant some trial and error, but they would be the cleanest overall solutions 3. Turns out that Google AI autofills the forms sometimes. That is probably how we ended up with names that weren't submitted. Now, thankfully so far noone minded their full name being put on the internet, but that is the point that bothers me the most! I do not want to put out anyones information that they did not volunteer!!! From what I can tell that is some setting on the users side, so there is not much I can do about it. The only possibilities I see are that I either delete that section in the form, or I put a big disclaimer in the box to make people aware to double-check if it was autofilled before submitting. I really do hope we find solutions to these issues. Also, if you guys have another idea, please share! I truly was not aware that any of that was happening. But I want this project to be as fun as possible for everyone, and accessible to every patreon who wants to participate.

You can either answer this comment or reach out to me on bluesky (pumpkinsparks) or instagram (pumpkin_sparks) also if you have an illustrated version, or there is a cool detail about your book, or anything the like, you can always submit more than one picture per book! Just make sure to make it clear what picture belongs to what (again, if you're unsure feel free to reach out!) and we will figure out the rest!

2025-10-04 21:51:37 +0000 UTCHey guys, I really don't want to have to write this and I really don't want to make anyone feel bad (I genuinely love every entry and the enthusiasm for this project you guys have), but I do feel that I really need to say this: Please please please try to follow the guidelines ESPECIALLY when it comes to naming the files! I have my system and it really makes things easier for me to sort through the entries quickly-ish. I'm not mad at anyone who had a different system of naming and I tend to keep the file names as-is (at first I did re-name things to make them uniform - hello autism liking things to be in order... - but that genuinely takes up a lot of time, so I reversed that decision) All of that being said... I do not want to call anyone out, but we now had someone who awsomely submitted a lot of different covers. But they decided to name them all in a different system that I asked for, plus adding their name in the file name (the latter most of you do and that is fine!), but then in the submission form explicitly stated that they don't want their name to be mentioned. So I no-jokes spent nearly an hour re-naming and sorting through them (that time is partially due to my jetleg, but still...) Up to this point I really enjoyed everything about this project, but to be honest that hour got me really pissed of. So please just try to follow the guidelines!
