Happy Birthday to Me

Last month was a bit of chaos as I had to deal with some medical emergencies. I once more find myself thankful for the people in my life that can help me make the choices and navigate bureaucracy I would otherwise be unable to. Needless to say, I'm thankful for the bit or normalcy a birthday kinda stands in for. Even if I've never had much luck with those either. I'm looking forward to a warm tacos and maybe a bit of cake. Still arguing if it's responsible to get myself a casserole dish and a video game.

I can at least argue myself the used folklore books I want are research material.

Still working on protocols! We are 7 deep in the first set of 15, the Form Lodges. The Form Lodges serve a similar role to the persona protocols in Exceptionals, but instead of describing how you or others perceive your role in a group, it's about what makes you an adept adventurer. What makes you a hero of a story?

It's a lot of slow going work right now, not exciting on your end, but front-loading it like this will allow me to have faster turnaround later and allow me to do multiple drafts and present the best version of these. Right now it's just hard mechanics, stories and framings will come later. But the math is I'm doing nothing but making 480 unique dynamic questions and 2400 example answers.

I've also finished editing a short story for a historical fiction anthology. Something of a magical realism retelling of a big of oral history of my people. I might be doing some podcast stuff over that. Might be doing a lot of new podcast projects soon.

Something I have been working on which is more substantial is the outline of a sword and sorcery novel. It's too early to share too much. But it started with a question of "what if dungeons could become gods?" and I have magic systems inspired by genres of music.
