One-Punch Man 3x07 "Counterstrike" - reaction & review
Added 2025-11-23 23:31:45 +0000 UTCHey everyone! I am finally here with One Punch Man season 3, ep 7!!!!!! They left me wanting more AGAIN!!! The S Class heroes are really showing their stuff here, and it's fun to see a new crop of heroes get some licks in too! But this does seem a little fishy as to how easy it was, doesn't it....I don't think Gyoro Gyoro was lying when he said the real fight is about to begin! Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

Sorry I'm so late on this!!! But yeah, I totally get where you're coming from. I know lots of people gave up on this show a while ago, and there's a lot of very negative feelings surrounding it! It is a shame it turned out the way it did with the animation and all, I'm still going to try and find good in it and enjoy it for the rest of the season! But I appreciate where you're coming from. It doesn't help that we are all missing our main characters while all this is going on too haha. I think they can still turn it around!

2025-12-04 16:46:54 +0000 UTCHonestly, you know by now I’m not one who enjoys dwelling on the negative - I’m really trying to keep an open mind with this season. (To give you an idea of what’s going on if you aren’t aware, some animators have made reports of online bullying, but it sounds like they’re just mad the show is being so poorly received overseas digging a little deeper. The last two episodes were both rated under 2.5/10 on IMDB apparently.) A lot of other reactors who were totally on board with OPM have even dropped the series, saying they aren’t even motivated to keep watching. I watch things for story, but I can definitely see the complaints. At the start of the season your reactions were between OPM and SxF - and while you know where I voted, I didn’t complain about the choice but personally I’m getting a little incensed after this episode based on what the season delivered so far. Even my patience is starting to wear a little thin, maybe partially because I know what the other choice COULD have been, and that’s not helping? But let’s get to the heart of the episode and why my tolerance is “taking a beating” here, for lack of a better term: this entire episode was nothing but side characters. Let me make a distinction - a side character is not the same as a supporting character, supporting characters are integral to driving the plot. While there is definitely a plot being driven, the show feels like it’s gotten so far off the rails that it’s just trying to full time. Sure, some of the fights and contraptions are somewhat cool. But here’s the most important thing: I don’t care what happens to one of these characters in this episode at all. Heck, the monsters could wipe out the entire bunch and I’d be like, “So?” There wasn’t one character in this episode that felt the least bit relevant to me. Maybe the story will prove me wrong. But right now, the show feels like I’m just watching two different groups go at each other’s throat for silly reasons and well, when you catch yourself dozing off mid fight, it’s never a good indication. The show’s got a couple issues it’s dealing with here: a) there seem to be way too many characters, b) there’s not enough fluidity in the storyline that the audience knows where their main focus should be, and c) there are too many open plot threads that don’t feel like they have much relevance to each other - it’s almost like they’re trying to cram three different animes into the same show. Gyoro-gyoro did say something about the real fight starting now - I sure hope something is going to turn this around, because while I’m not dropping it, I signed up for this - so far it’s been hard to feel much more about the show than massive disappointment, even after adjusting my “expectations” as a non manga reader. I’m hoping the show turns around, but so far this season’s felt just kind of like a slog. Maybe it’s because we’ve spent almost no time with Saitama? I know it’s a running joke that things end too quickly with him on screen, but still… or at least we get more with King’s group, at least some of those guys are interesting? Sorry for being Daniel Downer (I’m a guy so I shouldn’t use Debbie), but I was really that unimpressed with this episode - you always try to look on the bright side and I appreciate that - they can still change my mind of course, but I need to see it happen. Fingers crossed things pick up and I actually care what happens to somebody next week, I guess? 😅 Oh, MAL doesn’t have a updated list of a lot of the Class A hero voices so you’re just going to have to… guess until that gets fixed. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. :P
