Positioning auras now as easy as snapping your fingers
Added 2019-03-20 22:09:51 +0000 UTCStarting with WeakAuras 2.12, it will be easier to align your auras and groups with each other. What started as a late-night experiment by Buds, is now an actual feature that you can play with soon.
As you move an aura around, horizontal and vertical lines will appear that provide a visual indicator to help aligning your auras. When you move an aura close to a line and then release the mouse botton, it will snap to it. Some of you might be familiar with this feature from raster graphics editors like Adobe Photoshop.
So far it is not yet part of the next release, but we'll try to get it into it. There's a bunch of small stuff that needs to be decided.
E.g. currently if you hold the SHIFT button, the aura doesn't snap to the lines when you release the mouse button.
Holding CTRL will snap the middle of selected aura with the middle of another visible aura.
Is that good? How to communicate features like that in the UI, especially since only a very small part of our users reads the changelogs and release notes? Should we show a little text pop-up when the user is starting a drag action?
The feedback on Twitter has been very positive so far, so clearly the experiment is worth exploring but we need a bit more testing and your feedback about how to proceed to make this feature a big success.
