About caps and gowns: every year Balfour or whatever starts hitting up seniors at the school I work in the fall before graduation to buy some sort of package that includes the cap and gown, and even the basic one is over $100 and doesn't make it clear they can just get the cap and gown without the other shit, and they make a ton of money off them. I do think ultimately if you cannot afford it, they just loan you one for the day or whatever.
