Audiobook: The Life and Times of Boston Mom
Added 2022-11-12 10:20:55 +0000 UTCThe craziest revelation in here is that she was an extra on the set of that Pepsi commercial where Michael Jackson got set on fire

I'm actually a Christian and this was my exact thought too lmao. The microsecond she didn't have complete and total control at age like 43 she unravels and literally tries to leave her husband. All her prayers were "God you're going to give me exactly what I want" and any time that didn't happen and she got pushback she just prayed that God would teach other people a lesson. Amazing story of faith <3

2022-11-15 17:31:14 +0000 UTCThat Denny's parking lot story is fucking cooking my brain. Why couldn't she go home? Why did she choose to sit in a minivan with two small children for 6 HOURS just to pick up her fat momma's boy husband? And why did Darryl think that was alright to do? He can afford to go to a prize fight "for work" but he can't afford a cab ride home? In the time she was sitting in that parking lot she probably could have gone home, put her kids to bed, and recharged her damn phone like 6x over. Instead she had her toddler and infant watch back-to-back DVDs at 2am while she kept trying to OnStar God to punish her husband.

2022-11-15 15:38:47 +0000 UTCShe worked as a nanny for like 14 years and she didn’t actually get any of the money. She let her brother spend all of it because she was hating her money so much!!! All she got was the stupid wedding outfits and a boat to traumatize her children in.

2022-11-14 18:19:48 +0000 UTCYeah, but Ocean is going to become a trillionaire pop idol any day now, and then they'll be on easy street. Also there's a girl-child somewhere. She's probably doing something.

2022-11-14 16:31:59 +0000 UTCHer career as an extra was actually pretty good. Maybe the industry was less saturated back then but those are some decent gigs

2022-11-14 03:44:02 +0000 UTC"I've never met someone with so much blind faith as you" is such a neg lol. I just got done researching/writing about a medieval nun who basically lived the same life as Boston Mom based solely on faith/vibes. She would have done so well in the 1100s.

2022-11-13 21:02:41 +0000 UTCincredibly funny that it took her a hundred pages to define "bow" and "stern". This really should be a Tom Goes To The Mayor skit though, Boston Dad just in stupid poses in white and blue

2022-11-13 13:59:18 +0000 UTCWell 10 years later her husband is still a failed film director with gynecomastia and she is losing her eyesight from diabetes. Also presumably their retirement fund is like $4,000 because she stopped working at age 33 and he makes one local pizza commercial a year so they will feel the wrath of God in time

2022-11-13 07:19:21 +0000 UTCThe “all my struggles is blessings” american christian is one of the most psychotic types of people. The idea that they could ever do anything wrong or make a mistake just isnt even part of the equation for them.

2022-11-13 02:11:15 +0000 UTCi got so mad listening to this. she worships her own wants and feelings as a god and is never punished for living a selfish life. she never learns a lesson or admits fault and this book is about how she was always right and special for treating god like a magic genie that grants wishes. her only virtue is that she wants things
