Added 2025-05-16 18:52:27 +0000 UTCThere’s been a strong urge in me for a very long time to share more about the current status of MS2b. Maybe even too much. Hare-san often reins me in and reminds me to say less. And she’s right. It is for the better, really, because the deeper I get into MS2b, the more I’m convinced that you should go into this game knowing as little as possible.
So what can we show?
This is a very story-heavy game. I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before but anything we reveal runs the risk of being a spoiler. That’s why we’ve mostly limited ourselves to showing set pieces and things that are obvious from the get-go — like maps, environments, and some of the characters you’d expect to see.
Okay, so maybe an update on progress then? Like a percentage or something?
We were able to release a demo near the latter end of last year, so it might seem like we should be close, right? I’ve been thinking about this a lot… and honestly, it’s really hard to quantify. There are just too many interconnected parts that rely on one another before they can be considered truly “finished.” (And even then, there’s a whole debate on what finished even means — but I’ll spare you that for now).
That said, here’s a snapshot of where I can sorta get a pulse:
Most of the character models are complete. If all goes well, we won’t need to make any new ones (unless a new character shows up at the last minute). I’d say we’re at about 80%.
Map design is mostly done. This one’s also around 70~80%.
R&D for effects is basically complete — like, 100% if you count it from a “we could technically ship without them” perspective (it’ll just look janky in some parts). But if we’re talking about having everything we want, we’re more like 60%.
There was one large, complex map that needed a lot of attention — but that’s now under control. Overall progress there is around 50%, assuming no last-minute changes.
So that averages to about... what? 67.5% on the low end…? But do you see what I mean? This number doesn’t really mean much. 32.5% of progress left doesn’t always require 32.5% of time or effort to complete. Some parts are super quick. Some parts are deceptively monstrous.
And then there’s the elephant in the room: the script.
The critical piece that’s still been in flux, the one that should never have been left in limbo for this long, was (and in some ways still is) the script. I should’ve seen this coming, but my attention’s been pulled in so many directions. I recently uncovered some really important issues: plot holes, structural pacing problems, and thematic threads that needed to be tied up before we could move forward.
And I just... cannot ignore them.
Maybe these are things I could sweep under the rug. Hey, maybe most of you wouldn’t even notice?
But I noticed.
The team noticed.
And it eats away at my soul.
I don’t even want to think about how much hair I’ve lost over the past few weeks. So many things could’ve gone off the rails depending on how I chose to fix these story issues. But I think, I think, I’ve addressed most of it with the least amount of harm. There’s still a bunch of rewriting to do… but so be it.
I want this story to be the best thing you’ll read this year. Maybe even this decade.
There’s still a nervous voice inside me… but after wrestling with this story for so goddamn long, something unexpected happened. You’d think it would wear me down, make me lose faith, but it’s been the exact opposite.
I genuinely believe this story will be not just worthy of your time but worth the long-ass wait you’ve had to endure. And more than that… I think it’ll get you excited about what comes next. I have never written anything this complex and full of emotion.
I think MS2b is coming out really, really freaking cool.
And for the first time in a while I can give you some sort of a date — because this part is solely on me.
June 15.
That’s the deadline I’ve set for myself to finish off the script.
Once that’s done, everything else should fall into place relatively quickly, and you should start seeing more visual updates not long after. Maybe even a final release date soon after since the story dictates the hard denominator of work thats left. We’ll keep you updated.
Now, you might wonder — what’s even the point of this date? Or this article even?
I get it. From the outside, there’s no immediate, practical benefit.
But I wanted to give you something. Something tangible... some sort of signal of where we are. Because I hope it’s better than keeping you in the dark.
To show that we haven’t given up or disappeared.
We haven’t stopped!
Arms are being flailed, like the Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tubeman.
Oils have been burning throughout midnight.
It’s fun though. I wouldn't have it anyway else.
As usual, thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Okay... time to sleep.

It's nice to know that you haven't given up on developing a novel. When she doesn't come out for a long time, you start to worry, "will she ever come out?" (I used a translator when writing this comment, so there may be inaccuracies)

2025-06-18 01:04:31 +0000 UTCWow, thank you so much this really means a lot. Knowing that fault hit you that hard, especially as someone who doesn’t usually go for visual novels made my day. We’ve put so much of ourselves into this world, and hearing that they landed is what keeps us going. I’ll definitely try not to let it wreck my health too much. I’m doing okay so far. Thanks again for the kind words and the love. — Munisix

2025-05-26 13:06:50 +0000 UTCThank you for your comment and continued interest! We’re doing whats necessary to make sure the story lives up to its potential. I know claiming it could be the best you’ll read this year is bold, especially with titles like Steins;Gate and Danganronpa out there, all I can say is, sure why not? It’s a matter of taste of anyway. I can assure you we’re giving it everything we’ve got. As for a future RPG, it’s a dream, but one that’s still far off. For now, our focus is entirely on finishing MS2b. Thanks again, and I appreciate the reminder to take care of my health. — Munisix

2025-05-26 13:04:50 +0000 UTCWe 're waiting here..... Yes, giving up something is much better than continuing to create on the existing basis. As the core part of a visual novel, it is very common to rewrite the script. “I want this story to be the best thing you’ll read this year. Maybe even this decade.” I have read many similar visual novels, such as Steins: Gate, Ace Attorney, Danganronpa, etc. Can it really surpass them? I'll wait and see. I also read in the comments about a derivative RPG game based on the fault world view. Maybe it will be ten years from now? Finally, pay attention to your health. Besides, I'm looking forward to the music of StP and MS2B.

2025-05-26 12:45:26 +0000 UTCGood luck! It really makes me happy that you're putting so much effort into this story and this game. I'm honestly not a fan of visual novels, but Fault hit me like a truck and it had everything I ever wished in a game that at its surface is text and pngs. It had animations, it had cute and silly moments, dark and scary ones too. The characters are loving and deep, the world is SO FUCKING COOL AND WELL DEVELOPED. Just everything about Fault makes me smile and now more than ever I am looking forward to f2sb! Good luck into finishing and fixing everything! (and please don't let it damage your health too greatly as you need to be alive for the game to be truly successful hahaha) Much love ❤️💙💜

2025-05-17 21:11:27 +0000 UTCThank you so much for the kind words and for sticking with us since 2015 — that really means a lot. I get your feelings about the engine change and the long wait. Shifting away from Ren’Py was a tough decision, but it was neccesary at the time, as the Engine couldnt handle a lot of the graphical elements we were throwing at it around from the StP era. Still, I deeply appreciate your patience and support through it all. It’s incredibly encouraging to hear how much the Kravte system resonated with you. Hearing that it stands out — especially coming from a fellow RPG developer. We’re excited to keep expanding that world, and your idea of it working in a larger RPG framework is genuinely inspiring. Thanks again for the support. We’re working hard to make the next chapter worth the wait! — Munisix

2025-05-17 08:40:32 +0000 UTCEver since 2015 i really hope the game just keep continue using Renpy as it’s main engine and keep continue using it for the sequel until the end of the series instead of trying to tinker with a new type of game engine and making the fans wait half a decade for long hiatus. I’m one of the fans that here for the incredible story and not the quality of the game I’m big fan of magic fantasy type of story and i would say this game have the most freshest and original setting I’ve ever found after a long time. The whole concept of Kravte magic system itself is really intriguing and could easily expandable with many creative plot and ideas. Really a concept with great potential If i was a developer of big RPG company like Bandai,Atlus or Nintendo. I would consider talking and negotiate to you to consider taking your original concept of Kravte system as a basic battle system of magic to help creating a project for a new anticipate Fantasy MMORPG I’m game developer for RPG too but I’m not working in those big company. But i could assure you many RPG/MMO nowdays are lacking originality to their concept of magic especially when it comes to battle system. Many developers just copy their setting from another series and it become standardized. I think you have a good change to get your Kravte concept system got recognition from RPG developer company Btw i wishing you luck for the new game 🙏
