I just realized, as I was typing away on the newest issues of the Nodal Points zine (issue six- should be dropping in February if all goes well) that today marks the 11th anniversary of of the launch of the second iteration of Sacred Debris.
Sacred was originally a print zine in 1994. Cut, pasted, glued and stapled. It had a short run of two or three issues that I haven't seen in a few decades. The zines were the kind of thing a 19yo puts together; photographs I'd taken at Jack Yount's house, at tattoo conventions, scans of shop fliers and business cards without much context. They were sloppy and amateurish (so really, nothing has changed) but the seed was there; the obsession with sharing things that I'm passionate about with other folks on the same wavelength.
Shortly after the final issue, I was encouraged by Shannon Larratt to go digital, with the 1995 launch of spcOnline. From there, Scar Wars (the blog) and Occult Vibrations, and on New Year's Day 2024, the Sacred Debris blog.
It's been fun, and I'm super thankful for all of you folks who keep the projects going. The blog, the Instagram accounts, the zines, books, merch, etc.
I wouldn't, and couldn't, do it without your support.
