Kesselring was a Second World War general in the German Air Force. The Harrowing of Hell is the inspiration to one of my favourite paintings by one of my favourite artists: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrowing_of_Hell#/media/File:Fra_Angelico_024.jpg It's not explicitly referenced anywhere in the New Testament, but managed to work its way into both the Nicene and Apostles' creeds. Nonetheless, it is very ancient teaching relative to many of these non-Biblical add-ons. I'm actually looking forward to seeing Gibson's interpretation which, like Fra Angelico's painting, will surely be inspirational art of the highest order.

2026-01-20 22:58:06 +0000 UTCI saw The Albert Brooks doc last night and forgot that Reiner directed it, it’s barely a movie( and maybe isn’t trying to be )- and listening to this episode made me lock into how much of.afilmmaker’s instincts were absent. Here’s two directors speaking who both scaled their respective creative pinnacles , and there’s no exploration of what it’s like to now be incapable of matching their past as filmmakers . I’m not sure what that would look like actually if failure was interrogated more - but it’d have-provided a fuller bodied portrait. I liked the spinal tap sequel though I know will hated it

Part of me is perversely interested in one about the making of Fahrenheit 9/11, especially if it has a bit of Where Does Your Hidden Smile Lie movie-about-editing-bay drama mixed in.
