The Many Faces of Dierdre

Looks like our next Companion perk is going to dear Deerdah. That means she’ll be getting multiple forms that Emrys can choose between every time he summons her, with another one coming online every time he levels up. What’s she getting for level 6?

(This is every 6hd fey in pathfinder 1e I could find, whether or not I thought they were actually a good idea, minus a few I felt were redundant)

Dierdre will remain fundamentally Dierdre no matter what happens, which will soften more extreme personality shifts to a manageable degree. For example, Korred are normally Texas chainsaw massacre levels of “kill outsiders on sight” whereas a Korred version of Dierdre would be merely “very introverted.” Even the most evil versions of Dierdre will still maintain her relationships and allegiance to the party. Emrys can only summon one Dierdre at a time, but he can switch between them with every summon because they are all the same person.

Korred - small fey with an absolute overabundance of hair and a xenophobic streak a mile wide. This will make Dierdre extremely shy and crowd averse, but she will still enjoy the company of friends like Emrys, Rosie, and Rowe. Can talk to and manipulate stones, even creating structures up to the size of a modest refrigerator. Can make rope from her own hair.

Dryad- A classic with several powers based on shaping plants and charming people, but unfortunately unlikely to be a good fit. Emrys will only be able to summon her on dry land near a large tree, and she won’t be able to stray far from it without extreme discomfort eventually followed by death. Will make Dierdre very mellow and far more interested in trees than people. He MIGHT get use out of the tremendous boost that dryads get to crafting checks, allowing her to make wooden items and repair the ship cheaply, but she certainly won’t be accompanying him anywhere.

Nisid - fey who can bind themselves to abandoned islands the way that dryads bind to trees, with the same restrictions. Have several magic powers built around either surviving in isolation or preventing others from doing so. Extremely skilled hunter and tracker. Similar personality profile to a korred.

Orphne - elegant, beautiful, human sized fey necromancers that are often exiled from fey lands for basically being Nendra. This form of Dierdre will get easily bored, disdain physical or even intellectual labor, and want to enjoy luxuries and being pampered whenever possible. She will also develop a massive sadistic streak that will get progressively worse if she isn’t sated in other areas. However, she will be able to create and maintain a small army of mindless zombies or skeletons (24 levels worth at most) for free. They only take orders from Orphne Dierdre (with no loopholes like ordering them to follow Emrys), but will continue to do whatever they were told to do indefinitely without upkeep. She’d also get a pretty brutal negative energy ray attack and be pretty effective in a fight.

Ekekeh - big friendly dolphins capable of flight, firing lightning bolts, and swimming real good. The only completely non-humanoid option, but ironically the most “neutral” option in terms of her personality. Have proven incapable of absorbing the focused fire of a goblin gun line, but that’s hardly a unique failing.

Frosty Chiseler - dangerous little bastards who are at least on-brand for Emrys. This will make Dierdre a lot more bloodthirsty and prone to anger. Capable of summoning icy walls and a competent melee combatant.
