When The Soviets Accidentally Invaded Iran

The hilarious story of how the Soviet Army in Afghanistan in 1982 launched an operation to destroy a mujahedeen base, but due to a navigational error instead attacked an asphalt factory in Iran.

I love how it's never just a simple mistake, it's always a comedy of errors, like the unexploded Sidewinder becoming a trophy for photographs.

I hope you keep digging till you find out when he "accidentally" invaded China, it's only fitting if he's been to all other countries around Afghanistan.

I have a feeling, that when discussing the replacing of Col. Aprelkin, his superiors' thoughts were: "Yes, Aprelkin sucks at navigation but the others are even worse" :)

It is indeed very discouraging when you spend weeks making a video, and then YouTube demonetizes it for something like a scene with an explosion. Technically, any scene with bombardment or weapons could be considered 'firearms related' or 'violent.' Most of the time, a manual review can fix it, but even then, the damage to the video's performance can be brutal if demonetization happens AFTER the video's release. This is what happened with the last video about the PS-124. Deep down, I hope I can resume monetization (I don't see anything harmful in the video), but it will likely take more than a week at best. Meanwhile, the views of the video have almost frozen, and in my experience, they won't fully recover even if monetization is restored. On the bright side, I'm grateful for the growing support I have here on Patreon and Nebula, which I hope will help me cover my expenses in the near future. Regarding Nebula, it is developing. I'd say the "comments" on Nebula is the biggest debate among the creators. Both sides have their arguments, and I'm not sure who will prevail in the nearest future. As for discoverability, interestingly enough, just 2 days ago, we started internal testing of a system that will help users find creators based on their preferences. It's still early to say when (and if) it will be launched, but we're actively working on it. Thank you again for watching my videos and supporting my channel!

Always look forward to another Soviet Incident, crazy to think how that Colonel accidentally invaded Afghanistan's neighbors and still kept his job.

Another great video. It's honestly sad to hear that your last last video got demonetized again. I seriously hope Google cut it with that nonsense as I'm not interested in mindless content a.k.a. the Dodo and similar. Your highly informative and entertaining videos are one reason why I paid a Premium subscription on Youtube. If a video is not "advertiser friendly", then it doesn't matter if I don't see ads. I do hope that Nebula also update their service to make it more appealing. Add a comment section and better discoverability of creators to make it more accessible. I'm already on the platform. Thanks again and Slava Ukraini!
