Structure and content #1
Added 2022-09-26 17:00:11 +0000 UTCHello there, fellow futa lovers!
In January 2023, this Patreon gallery will reach its fifth anniversary! Can you believe it? Until the other day, I was sure we were approaching four years, not five. Five sounds like a magic number, doesn't it? Way more magical than four, at least (LOL). I'm not sure how prone you are to giving in to meditative states, but I caught myself watching my thoughts come and go these days as I walked in the park. They were ideas of change.
This month's poll is different, and I think it'll be a part of a small series. You guys already voted on entrusting all structural choices to me two years ago. I'm grateful for it, and that's why I felt at ease when I chose to change things. Still, I'm sure it's essential to hear you. =^___^=
What is today's topic? I've received one particular kind of feedback from former patrons that's always on the back of my mind. They told me that it was hard to access their rewards. It was more than that. Most of the time, they were referring to problems related to the post (i.e., hopping from post to post inside the Patreon gallery, manually curating all the content, etc.). Consequently, I wondered whether it wouldn't be better to adopt a different model for delivering rewards. I've been researching other artists and content creators, and I stumbled upon the "art pack" idea so many times that I cannot keep ignoring it.
Why do I like it? The art pack solves the task of curating the rewards delivered each month. It contains all the rewards in a single compressed file (which, in turn, is composed of an organized set of folders with all the monthly rewards in them). It also prevents a recurring problem that is anything but fair to you: it makes the rewards available only to those who went through the respective monthly billing cycle. This way, those who systematically make a pledge and leave before the billing cycle can only see the standard-resolution illustrations available to all tiers. All further rewards will be neatly packed in their respective art packs. I know very well that Patreon's spirit is tightly related to the relationships that we build here. I cherish and celebrate that, but I also see how unfair it can feel when someone takes advantage of it for personal gain. That's how I would feel as a patron.
How would it work? I would send each monthly art pack link through a Patreon DM to all who completed the most recent billing cycle. Each art pack would have its link active for a limited time (ideally, one month) so that everyone has time to make a personal copy. For example, suppose a patron called Thomasin joins our gallery and makes her first pledge in Jan/2023. In that case, she will access the Patreon feed instantly. Still, she would only be eligible to receive Feb/2023's art pack, given she completes her first billing cycle (i.e., the one between Jan/2023 and Feb/2023). Previous art packs could be available on a platform such as Gumroad. This would be what I have in mind for our main monthly illustrations. Extra illustrations (such as commission illustrations, sketches, etc.) would be posted as usual but wouldn't have their own art pack.
Although I did a fair share of research to bring this idea to the table, none of this is written in stone. As of today, the art pack seems to me like an organized, fair, scalable, and sustainable solution, but I'm all ears for your input, preferences, and personal experiences. Some of you may love this idea (like those I spoke to). Some may vehemently reject it. I don't know what to expect, so I'd like to use today's poll to understand your opinions about it a little better.

I hear you. This change will make browsing the content at the Patreon gallery easier since each illustration will be posted only once and not three times, depending on the tier involved. I face that same problem whenever I need to scroll down a couple of pages here, too, to copy a link, or to verify the result of an older poll.

2022-09-26 21:35:52 +0000 UTCI'm one of your fellow patreons since may 2018. It won't change much for me. So I'm pretty neutral about it. But one thing, you already mentioned, what bothers me a lot is, scrolling through all that content, to find one particular thing can be really painfull. Especially when patreon decides to set you back a couple of posts the moment you click the "more" button.
