My New Favorite Plugin Turns Live Audio into MIDI
Added 2025-04-02 00:38:21 +0000 UTCI love this plugin and have been using it a lot for random experimental-type work.
It's been in a few of my Instagram reels, and each time I use it, people reach out asking what it is.
It's called Augmented Percussion, and if you want a new toy that will keep you occupied for hours, this is it.
The good: It listens to incoming audio and sends a midi note out each time a transient crosses a set threshold. This midi note can be used for anything from triggering a synth, to mapable effect controls, and on and on.
The bad: It's only for Max For Live which means you will need Ableton Suite to run it.
But man it's worth it.
The video here is me describing the basic controls, but if you are considering buying it, look at all of the videos posted at the link above. It really opens a door to all sorts of performative possibilities.
Enjoy!

It’s great right?? But yeah all of the tutorial videos are in Spanish. Turn on English subtitles though-that helped me a lot

2025-04-29 01:20:28 +0000 UTCHi there today. you mentioned in this very informative video that you would have some links to developer videos. I’ve even the demo video on their website and found a series of videos ( in Spanish)….but do you know of any others? BTW- have been enjoying routing piezo inputs to various other synths. Using Augmented Percussion in an Audio track is a super easy gateway to getting mic and external signals to MIDI without building something with an Arduino or similar.
