Dear Craftworldians,
While we wait for the official miniatures for Era of Providence to take shape, and as much of the world still simmers in mystery (we are eager to reveal more) — I (Marko) often turn to painting, kitbashing, or even resculpting some of the existing models to serve as proxies during gameplay testing. (Yes I have more proxies) :)
This time, I worked with one of the Wildercorpse Hunters from Games Workshop.
Though not originally part of our universe, she immediately struck me as a perfect stand-in for a human character of Veilguard heritage: operatives who serve their benefactors.
In this step-by-step tutorial, I’ll walk you through how I painted her: building rich ambience, soft transitions, and a focused but subtle spotlight around the character’s expression in focal point. The goal was not just to showcase technique, but to tell a silent story through light, shadow, and texture.
Aleksandra and I hope you enjoy this step-by-step lesson and tutorial, and another glimpse into the world that’s steadily unfolding.
We’d love to hear your thoughts and see how you bring your own characters to life. If you use this or any of our other tutorials, feel free to share your work with us on our Discord, we’re always excited to see your results!
