Silhouetting (2021)

So I don't know what the actual name for this technique is, but sometimes when I'm struggling with a fresh composition or pose I like to block in a general silhouette and go over the shape with an eraser, cutting out bits and pieces, before going over the final shape with some lines. This is actually a pretty clean example—usually there's more back and forth and a lot more clean up before I get it right.
Normally I would just sketch loosely onto the canvas, but it's super fun to do this kind of blocking in with, say, hair for example, or if you're stuck with the positioning of a limb.
