What next for the Cryoverse?

What's up, patrons. It's been a while. Almost a year, in fact. I haven't put out a Patreon post since October of last year! Not that I haven't been writing... I have! Just not anything on Patreon.

Have you ever had that thing happen where a friend texts you, and you think, "Oh, I'll text them in a little while." But you forget?

Then a day goes by and the next time you notice, it's 1 AM the next night? You think to yourself "Oh god! I totally forgot to reply! Well it's a bit late now, isn't it? I'll reply in the morning."

But you don't reply. You forget to do it again. And soon, it's been three or four days, now replying seems almost like a dick move. Gradually, you decide it's better if you just don't reply.

No, you haven't forgotten you need to reply. It eats at you every day. You think to yourself "Is there something wrong with me? Why can't I just reply? It would be so awkward if I replied now after months of silence..."

So it has been with my Patreon. I wanted to make posts, but after three months with no posts, I kept getting distracted, I had so much on my plate, and to top it all off, I've never been entirely sure if anyone actually reads my update posts. I'm not even sure if people will read this one!

But here we are. It's 2022, the Pandemic has been raging for two years, and things aren't looking great for old Klokky. My rent is going up and I can't actually pay it as it is pre-raise without dipping further into my very meager savings. I had three writing projects tugging at me for the longest time, plus a bunch of other side stuff...

Well, I'm making a change.

I plan to get back to posting on Patreon once again. But what finally happened in the last 9 months to make me get back to Patreon, you might ask?

Well, in just a few hours, my posts for The Last Precursor REWRITTEN will be going live on Royal Road! Wow!

This is a fully redone version of the original story I finished last year, right around the same time I stopped posting on Patreon. Since then, I have put a lot of time and energy into updating the story. Here are some highlights:

1. Totally rewrote chapter 4 since a lot of readers thought Jose was too cringey with the Kessu and headpats.

2. Totally rewrote the ending. It is wildly different now!

3. Added a brand new chapter. Chapter 49 is content that was never in the original Reddit release!

4. Made lots of minor changes. For example, I removed the character of Felabi entirely and replaced him with Ruuki to be Nyoor's son. I also added more budding romance between Rags and Lele.

All sorts of changes like that throughout the story. In total, I'd say the story is about 20% different from its original incarnation!

My hope is that people on Royal Road are willing to support me so I can finally become financially stable once again. If not? Well, there's always destitution and homelessness. That's not far away.

But what will I be doing with my Patreon?

Character reviews! I've been giving it some thought, and I do want to post interesting content on my Patreon. To that end, I'll be dedicating whole posts to some of the Cryoverse's most colorful cast members.

I plan to do posts about Jason Hiro, Phoebe Berthold, Amelia Greyheart, Jose Rodriguez, ALL of them. All the interesting and well-fleshed-out main cast!
