Progress Report

Hey, y'all!

We'd initially intended to take more time and drop the first third or so of Eric's Tale all at once, but as we've locked in our plans and got stuck in, we've instead shifted towards getting an update out sooner rather than later - it has been a long while after all! Part of the reason for this is that the first chapter of the tale while brief is fairly elaborate with a bunch of new artwork required and some interesting planning and preparation needed along the way. A good chunk of our time would have been spent on that anyway, and it makes more sense to me to narrow our initial focus down to just that, nail it, and get it out there for you all to enjoy.

Another reason? Elden Ring. All of us on the dev team are obsessed with Elden Ring, so it would be good to get an update out before Shadow of the Erdtree drops. Also FFXIV: Dawntrail like a week after. Hoo boy. We're gonna be busy.

Anyway, everything is locked in and we're full steam ahead getting everything done for this update. The opening chapter is a lot of fun, very goofy and silly, and maybe a little sexy...? I'm looking forward to seeing how people take to it!

Thanks once again for your patience! As a reward, I'll reveal a few details about what you can expect! First of all, this is a Halloween-themed tale. Yes, yes, I know, wrong time of year, but hey! Smiling Friends just released a halloween episode! So can we, damnit! There will be four characters present during this opening, each in their own unique halloween outfits. I would be lying if I said half of the reason I wanted to do the halloween theme at all wasn't because of Eric's outfit - it's practically my magnum opus! Now I do have to keep some of my surprises to myself at least for now, but I will also reveal one of the other characters present is Axel, dressed in that adorable vampire outfit we showed you on halloween last year!
