Soon, I promise! (Progress Report)

Hey y'all. Sorry this one is taking so long. Though I'm sure you're probably used to it by now. I'm a bit of a broken record of saying "this next one will hopefully be quicker!" only for it to take an eon and for all of my Patreon posts to be apologizing for that fact. I don't have any particularly fresh excuses this time around, just a terrible case of writers block and low motivation levels. This shouldn't be quite so bad going forward, it's just exacerbated by this update not really involving the writing of any exciting new scenes. 

The plan for the new chapter in this update was pretty much just "write an alternate scene for day 5 of the poly route where Adrian goes home to Diego's" with no real exciting ideas or any kind of hook. Though that scene is actually done, so it's not what's holding things up. Fair warning, it's quite a small piece. But given how ridiculously overlong Tai's route ended up being, the fact I can even produce something concise is kind of a miracle, especially considering that focused and concise scenes are exactly what this route is supposed to be. I guess that means I'm on target so far?

So as things stand, the first major fork in the poly route is implemented with choosing to return home resulting in a much quicker and less intense conclusion to day 5. That was always going to be the biggest job, so it's good that's done. It was also however probably the least tedious. It isn't easy to write something with no real 'hook' or any interesting ideas, though part of that is concern that the result will suck as can be the case when you're lacking ideas and inspiration. Thankfully, this scene came together nicely. It's pretty much carried entirely by Diego's banter, and I will admit, he's one of my favorite characters to write for these days. I've found such a groove for writing his dialogue and almost all of the gags, innuendos and other comedic moments are all things that happen off the cuff during the writing process. Diego just has such a strong and well-defined personality that even a very simple and straight forward scene can be quite a lot of fun for his inclusion.

The work that remains at this stage is fairly tedious, which is why things are moving at a snails pace. What remains is to write in two more choices in 5x7, the first scene at Russell's (leading up to gay shit™.) These choices will be to partake (or not) in the drug use, and to return home before things get out of hand. Initially, I'd wanted to make the sex scene available regardless of the drug use choice, but that would require alternate versions of all subsequent scenes with completely different dialogue and narration to account for it, and with how the scene is currently written (with the drug use being blamed for the sudden uptick in libido) and the fact that I'm sure those inclined to go home with a random stranger and smoke his pot are also more inclined toward continued misbehavior, we've decided that at least for now, choosing not to partake will have Adrian return home shortly after, resulting in a slightly altered version of the same day ending you'd have gotten if you'd returned home straight from the bar (just with a few additional lines of dialogue acknowledging the additional events.) Should the player choose to partake, the scene will continue to play out until just before things get lewd where the player will have the choice to be the angel on Adrian's shoulder who sends him home before he does something he might regret, or the devil on his shoulder who WANTS TO SEE SOME DAMN TWINSIES!!! Returning home at that point will result in a third version of that sequence with Diego... unfortunately for Adrian who is doing his best to appear totally normal, he's not fooling anybody... and Diego has a particularly keen sense of smell! 

Okay, I admit... that scene might be fun to write! Though thinking about it now in more detail, I don't quite think I'll be able to 'adjust' the existing home scene with Diego for that... it'll probably have to be it's own thing. With that said, if Diego sends Adrian straight to bed like a disappointed dad, that won't take long to write at all!

ANYWAY. Blah blah blah, shut up Xevvy! When's it coming out?! 

By the month's end. Pinky promise. If I get everything done, then great, if not, I'll release what I have. One way or another, you'll get the build by the end of the month. Hopefully we do get it done, then we can begin working on Day 6 in earnest! And yes, don't worry, on Day 6 you'll actually get to see the love interests. Kinda weird that doesn't happen after their route is selected on day 5 like the others, huh?
