Kitsune Boogaloo Re-Write: Chapter 2
Added 2025-12-05 06:00:05 +0000 UTCAlright. So. I have a d&d system... but... like... where are the quests?
I'm a level one nobody. Missing an eye and arm. I'd die from Serafall sneezing too hard currently.
So. How the FUCK do I grow?
Quests?
Well, where are they?
You'd think they'd give me something to start with, but NOPE!
What? Do I have to make goals for myself? Uhhh. I'm finally going to get started on my arm-
A quest has been received:
Giving yourself a Hand:
Well, your insertion could have probably been better. BUT you're here now! So now it's time to improve your quality of life a little! A new arm is needed. But where will you get the materials?!
Objective:
Complete your Prosthetic Arm: [ ]
Huh...
Alright then.
To Serafall!
[Split]
A woman slowly walks through a large mansion, nine fox-like tails quietly whip through the air behind her.
Leading her is a second woman, this one in a green and black dress that goes about half way down her legs. Serafall Sitri. Dressing professionally for once as she is hosting one of the leaders of a faction that isn't all too pleased with the Devil Race. "He should be in one of my spare rooms. He has been there almost every day since he was able to walk again. He said that he wanted to tinker with some technology... and... well... for the first time since the accident he had some sort of glimmer in his eye, so I've been accommodating him and getting some small bits of machinery for him. Speakers, boomboxes, toasters and such."
"I see." The kitsune woman notes as they come to a simple door.
The door silently opens as the two step inside, the larger breasted fox woman wearing a loose-fitting kimono gazes around the room, seeing a boy calmly sitting at a desk, slightly hunched, he has short white hair with two fluffy white ears atop his head.
A singular tail gently sways back and forth through one of the holes in the chair as he has his arms crossed his unhurt arm being placed over his amputated limb.
In front of him is... she can't really tell.
Coiled wires, metal bent out of shape.
There's a slight twitch to his body as he looks up, his tail poofs up as his ears twitch.
He turns, eye spying the woman's numerous tails and freezing up.
A smile crosses the woman's lips as she looks down at the boy as he begins shaking slightly, much like the passive shake of a chihuahua or another small dog. "H-Hello... can I help you?"
His remaining eye darts around the room.
'Cute.' Yasaka mentally notes as she takes a step forwards, a slight frown on her face.
"You poor child..." She sighs as she crouches down before him. "You have faced hardships that no-one at your age should face... I am truly sorry that the Yokai faction was unable to help you."
"It's okay, you couldn't have known." The boy weakly replies.
"The injustices done to you are not 'Okay'!" The woman exclaims.
"I-it's really no big deal. I don't really see a reason for someone such as yourself to come see me. My strength is barely even low class."
"That still does not make it right for a group of exorcists from the five clans to hunt down any yokai they can find. That savagery is no different than the beasts they claim to be protecting humanity from." Yasaka declares. "Besides... it is not as if you will remain low class when you return to Kyoto and begin training."
The boy's features harden. "Pardon?"
"You will be coming to Kyoto, with me." Yasaka explains quietly, mildly perturbed at the sudden resistance.
"No." The younger yokai declares much to the surprise of the woman.
"What?"
"I don't want to leave Kuoh." He states with a small head shake.
"โฆ"
The woman sternly frowns down at the boy. "You are too weak to stay in Kuoh."
"I am too weak to go to Kyoto." The boy denies. "I would be in far more danger going to what is possibly the supernatural hub of Japan instead of staying in some random town that is out of view of almost everyone."
"I could have you protected." The woman begins.
"From dangers I wouldn't need to face if I stayed in Kuoh." He states.
The older woman frowns down at the boy. A one tailed kitsune like she once was needs to be nurtured. Not in a town with a bunch of devils.
She is surprised that the younger boy doesn't break eye contact with her.
Yasaka continues in a low, but stern tone, much like she would when she speaks to her daughter about something dangerous or foolish. "You are going to come to Kyoto. I do not feel safe leaving you in the hands on these devils-"
"These devils have saved my life." The young kitsune declares "You are not my parent, nor do you have any right to order me around. I like Serafall... she saved my life and has helped me every step of the way to my recovery. She... she has helped me find a semblance of normality even after the accident I can barely even remember. And... and right now I need normalcy. I just... want time to myself. Time to come to terms with everything. I won't go with you. You may be stronger than me. And a kitsune like me... but I don't know you."
"I am the leader of the West Yokai Faction. This temper tantrum is-"
"You're not the leader of my life."
The woman narrows her eyes slightly as the young sole tailed kitsune stares back at her unflinchingly.
Energy seems to roll throughout his body, sharply rising for a moment before stabilizing. His eyes narrow right back at her.
That was-
Interesting... it is clear that he is a potential Kyuubi, but... how does she convince him to leave for Kyoto?
Should... he even be in Kyoto?
He does make a valid point... he would be in far more passive danger there... even with the ability for her to keep an eye on him.
Him being in a town with an ultimate class overseer, unknown to the supernatural at large would certainly be a lot safer... yet she couldn't introduce him to Kunou.
The nine tailed kitsune looks over her shoulder to the devil who has been keeping the kitsune boy safe for the time being, a slightly displeased look on her face.
The black haired devil doesn't waver under her gaze, a slight smile graces her lips.
Without another word she walks away from the boy who looks genuinely surprised that his resistance worked.
The two women leave the room and pause in the hallway.
"I want him to come with me." The kitsune declares.
"He doesn't want to go with you." Serafall states with a small frown.
"Yes, I am aware of that-"
"Yasaka... I was unable to protect that boy when he needed it the most... I will protect him... even from you if need be." The woman announces.
A brief spark of tension passes between the two as the kitsune eventually lets out a sigh. "You truly care for him... don't you?"
"I do." The devil states with a small frown. "I have only known him for a week, but if anything were to happen to him, I would go absolutely ballistic."
She is telling the truth, according to Senjutsu at least...
"That boy... is a special existence." The Kyuubi states with a lightly annoyed frown. "He seems to have the potential to easily grow into a nine tailed fox... he may even achieve it faster than I did. It pains me to trust a devil after what your kind did to those few Nekoshou, but... protect him. Keep him safe. Let his power quietly grow and nurture it. Keep him out of the supernatural eye at large."
"You don't have to worry about that... I had already planned on keeping him safe." The devil announces.
"Heh... heheheh HAHHAHAHAH!" The two woman blink as they can hear the boy cackling from within the room.
Serafall cracks the door open, allowing the two to see the young kitsune with the strange contraption on his arm.
Looking closer it does look quite a bit better. The metal is covering the wires now, at least.
It's a prosthetic arm...
He built it with scraps.
He had managed to build a functioning robotic prosthetic out of seemingly spare parts.
The fingers on the prosthetic twitch and move as he rolls the wrist of his new appendage.
What even-
He is...
He must be some sort of genius.
A prodigy.
DAMN IT!
Yasaka would look quite bad if she walked right back over there and demand he return with her at once.
She...
Could force him, yet she doubts he'd ever forgive her. Nor does she think this devil will allow it without some sort of scuffle.
"Hm..." He hums looking down at the thing he made.
"This is junk." He declares. "Oh well. At least I can open a door while holding something now... or hold spoons."
The fingers twitch slightly, causing the fox boy to hum. "Ah well. Maybe not spoons, then."
The leader of the youkai faction closes the door and pivots to glare at the devil.
"The best materials. Give them to him. Now." She lowly growls. "I refuse to allow him to go around with an arm that looks like it came from the scrap heap. Give him everything he needs to turn it into a sleek and refined creation."
"Of course!" Serafall growls. "What do you take me for! That's literally the first thing I'm going to do!"
The fox woman lets out a mildly annoyed huff and turns, walking down the hallway. "In a few years, I will be sending Kunou to Kuoh in order to teach the boy techniques."
With that final statement, the kitsune woman leaves the devil behind, then shortly after, leaving Kuoh entirely.
[Split]
A Leader's Request:
Yasaka herself has come to Kuoh to collect you. You are clearly a special Kitsune, just as she once was, it is her goal to cultivate your power and turn you into a nine tailed kitsune. If you were to render her or Kunou a mother during that time, who is she to deny fate. Another nine tailed kitsune is JUST what the western Yokai faction needed!
Objectives:
Go with Yasaka: [-]
Bonus Objectives:
Refuse to leave Kuoh: [x]
Thoroughly Impress Yasaka: [x]
Rewards: None
Bonus rewards: 1500 Experience, 'Nine Tailed Heir' Achievement.
Nine Tailed Heir:
The leader of the western Yokai faction acknowledges you as someone with incredible potential.
Reward: You gain a permanent +2 to all Social checks against Yokai (Gather information, Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, etc~}
'hn? She left? Just like that?'
I thought I might have needed to show more resistance.
Ah well, this works for me.
I look to the hail of screens before me.
Her eyes widened slightly when I refused... she could sense my growth. Which in turn impressed her.
At least that allowed me to somewhat confirm that my growth isn't necessarily 'level bound'.
"Gnnnn..." I grumble under my breath as my arm sparks and twitches.
It really is a hunk of junk.
Anyways, thanks to this one quest I'm on my way to level two... about half way. Yipee!
A sigh of exhaustion leaves my lips, ears and tail drooping.
Meeting Yasaka face to face was so stressful.
Is it so bad that I just want to stay in the presence of a woman who pampers and protects me? Yasaka might be more powerful- debatable while she is here, outside the range of her Leyline- but she also has an actual job. She is the ruler of an entire group of youkai.
Serafall just has to worry about a small town in the middle of nowhere soooo she can spend a lot more time doting over me.
It's simple 'I don't want to fucking die' economics. Keep the extremely powerful, guilty, and attractive woman at your side so nobody can come around and chop off my other arm.
To be honest, you only need the first two. The latter is a complete and total benefit though.
I wonder since I finished a 'prototype' arm I could beg Serafall to get me materials? This was purely so she'd know I wasn't just full of bullshit.
[Split]
I gaze down at a sleek black arm, the knuckles a deep crimson.
A small smile slowly crosses my lips as the metallic fingers smoothly drum on the table.
This is... perfect.
I now have a new appreciation for that one 'Class Fusion' power.
It's really good.
To explain it bluntly, I can basically swap class features from one class to another for more or less free.
My class. Demon Hunter. At level one I get a bunch of useful abilities. Most levels I get them, in fact, BUT.
Not all the abilities are totally useful.
Level one, I get a special combat style, demonic blood- which makes me more durable- and a technique that lets me be slightly better at resisting grapples.
One of these is not like the others.
The only real downside is that I have to sort of follow 'templates'.
Like, I can't just pick some random warrior class and slap on full level one to nine full time-wizard spellcasting.
One. Because my magic's fucked for five character levels. And two, I'd be forced to use a lesser version of the spells as a 'martial' class, in which my total mana would have been reduced and I would have had only been able to cast, at most, sixth level spells.
I have to... kind of balance these things, sadly.
There are some exceptions for the rules, however.
You see, a lot of the classes in Final Fantasy d20 are references to other media.
The flash, hulk, iron man, solid snake, the fucking DRAGONBORN- a really weird bard class that last one-
But.
My class is also a reference.
Demon Hunter.
As in Devil May Cry.
At first level, I get an ability to improve my allies and myself in combat the harder I style on my enemies, literally the D-SSS combat rating system from the game. Increasing the force of my blows, my speed, even giving me a bonus swift action at higher levels- which is really op for me.
Why this is good for me is because of one certain character in the fifth game.
Nero himself.
Umu umu.
As a result of there being a one armed, prosthetic wielding demon hunter... I was able to swap out that shit 'martial maneuver resistance training'. In exchange for the MAIN ability of another class.
It's more akin to me gaining some sort of spellcasting or unarmed strikes from a monk.
Prosthetic Arm {EX}
While the arm is attached, the engineer may use its resilient frame to defend against attacks. It grants the user an armor bonus to his AC equal to that shown on the above table, and has the hit points shown there as well. These hit points can be restored in any way an engineer could normally repair his automaton. Whenever the prosthetist takes damage, he may choose to have it affect his normal hit points or the hit points of the prosthetic arm. Non-lethal and energy damage cannot be redirected to the arm, and always hits against the prosthetistโs hit points.
There's a lot more text to this, of course, listing upgrades and stuff that it'll be getting at certain levels, but at level one, the only real important bit is that it allows me to punch with the force of a truck, it's strength improves as I do- a result of me gaining more information to fine tune it as I train my physical body- and it technically counts as a 'companion' like an animal companion or familiar might.
Even in its current state it is quite impressive. It seems this world's materials might be a bit more fancy than anything Pathfinder had to offer.
The arm itself isn't anything special other than being a prosthetic you would see in some sort of sci-fi.
No in-built weapons. No double joints, no truly monstrous strength- yet- just a simple arm with simple arm range of movement.
Overture:
Weight: 2.5 Lbs
Armor Bonus: +2
Arcane Spell Failure Chance: 0%
Armor Check Penalty: None
Speed Reduction: None
Damage: 1d10+Str
Critical: x2
Hit Points: 43/43
Special Materials:
Offensive:
Hihi'irokane:
A specialized naturally magical alloy of japanese origin that is a deep crimson and has great affinity for fire, sometimes called 'Scarlet Steel'.
This metal, thanks to its magical properties will strike harder than normal iron or steel. This causes your prosthetic to deal damage as if you were one size category larger.
Defensive:
Mithril:
A light-weight sturdy metal far tougher than any mortal metal.
Your Prosthetic is granted a 'Damage Reduction' of 5.
Your Prosthetic gains 30 Bonus Hit Points.
Your Prosthetic grants you an additional +2 Armor Bonus
I felt the name was suitable. Anyways, my arm here has just under three times my own health.
At least it'll be a suitable shield, I suppose.

A quest has been completed!
Giving yourself a Hand:
Well, your insertion could have probably been better. BUT you're here now! So now it's time to improve your quality of life a little! A new arm is needed. But where will you get the materials?!
Objective:
Complete your Prosthetic Arm: [x]
Bonus Objective:
Go ALL OUT and truly make a quite impressive arm: [x]
Reward: 250 Exp
Bonus Objective: 500 Exp
Three fourths of the way there.
Sweet!
I rise from the desk, looking over my new arm.
I give it a few gentle swings. It whips through the air.
My fingers slowly come down one by one in a waving motion.
My thumb twitches up and down as I smile. "Oh. This is pretty good, actually."
I turn, tail sweeping out behind me a small satisfied smile on my lips.
There's... one part of my detriments via gambling addiction solved.
Now I just need to figure out how to get my depth perception back.
Final Fantasy D20 has cybernetic eyes...
I'll probably make me one of those.
The issue is...
How?
There's a craft feat for it, but. it needs level nine at the very least.
By that point it might just be better to figure out a way to get Regenerate.
If the system allows me to buy Pathfinder items it'll be a simple matter of getting a scroll of regenerate or something similar.
That come later I suppose.
Noooow.
To the gym to test out my new arm!
[Split]
A punching bag recoils backwards, rippling under my punches.
I'm quite strong.
I allow my arms to fall, a low breath leaving my lips before my prosthetic snaps up and punches forwards.
It's just out of reach but an indent is pressed into the bag.
My martial abilities I got in exchange for that magic debuff.
What I just used there was a stance that increased my reach called the 'Reaching Blade Stance'.
The name says 'blades' but it works for all attacks it seems.
It should extend my blows by about five feet?
Plus it also improves the power by quite a bit, and if I combine it with the specialized strikes?
My arms fall to my sides as the bag swings back down.
My fleshy arm comes up in an instant and meets the bag head on causing it to ripple again.
I of the two schools I chose I picked Mithril current, a style based around drawing weapons, be it katanas, fists, or spears. The entire gimmick is to go from a 'non-combative' position to an attack in an instant. So like, a sheathed katana, a spear stabbed into the ground, your hands at your sides or in your pockets. Things like that.
The first level is kind of boring, but beyond that I get to start doing things like Zoro's Wind Slashes or that thing where you cut someone and they don't notice for a few seconds.
A quest has been completed:
Practice Makes Perfect!
Well, you've got your arm, now it's time get a little workout in to get accustomed to it! And what better way than to use your magical bullshit martial arts to get some practice in before you have to use it in an actual life-threatening situation!
Objective:
Perform 100 'Mithril Current' Maneuvers: 100/100 [x]
Reward: 250 Exp.
Five hundred more experience is needed.
Then I'll finally be level two!
I look over my body, sweat clings to it, it's gotten quite hot in the gym.
I suppose I could take a bath to clean up.
Yeah. That sounds like a good idea!
[Split]
I let out a long tired breath as I sink into the bath, the hot water prickles at my stump, now with some added bits of machinery on it to connect my new arm to.
I thought it'd be better to take it off to wash underneath.
Thankfully it's waterproof, though so even if I didn't, I would have to worry about anything.
The remaining aches and pains in my body flare up upon contact with the water.
I let out a low hiss as I bring my stump to my chest wincing at the feeling of needles traveling down my lack of forearm.
'damn phantom pains. Fuck you.'
I frown as the water clings to my tail, making it feel weighty and soggy.
'Ugh. I still can't get used to having a tail or an extra set of ears... it's so weird.'
A bring my hand up to my hair and quickly run my fingers through it, taking care to scratch the inside of one of my extra ears.
I'll probably put the arm back on to finish cleaning my body. But for a moment... I believe I'll just soak.
The tub I rest in is quite large. I'd say it's closer to a pool than an actual 'tub'.
Rectangular, about eight feet long and five feet across. People could quite comfortably sit side by side in it if needed.
My eye drifts shut as I slowly sink lower into the water, thinking about my general life.
With the completion of my arm... I feel a lot better.
Sure, the eye thing is kind of annoying, but eh. The arm part was worse.
With that solved I'm beginning to think I may enjoy this new life just a bit. I mean, it's Dxd. Tons of really hot babes and other cool things to take a look at.
One of my fox ears twitch slightly as I continue to lay there in the bath. 'Now that I have my arm back, perhaps I should think on the other drawbacks.'
AU. Crossover. And the one that made me an enemy to some organization.
I need to figure out what has changed. Who exists. And who to kill.
'hm... I suppose it could solve this pretty easily... or at the very least remedy my lack of knowledge somewhat.'
Serafall has a library here in her manor.
All I need to do is go and read through a few books.
Maybe I'll even get a q-
A quest has been received!
Knowledge is power:
You've entered a new world. A world with magic, monsters, and big titties. (Those three things aren't necessarily mutually exclusive). It'd probably help to learn a bit more about the world around you. Figure out if Goku and Vegeta are historical figures or anything like that. But where to start? Oh! Serafall has a library! That'd probably help.
