Daily Life with Three Systems: Chapter 29

"So... basically you want more rooms?" I look between the five girls.

"It'd be convenient." Natsuki mutters.

"I kind of want like... a really good bathroom." Rias sighs. "With a big tub!"

"A library would be appreciated." The etherious admits.

"It'd be nice to no longer need to sleep in the dining room or in the living room." Valerie notes causing Natsuki to nod twice.

"Alright then..." I mutter under my breath as I select 'extra base reward' for fifty points and pick the 'epic' base modification.

I flinch as the room around us ripples.

"Woah what the fuck?" I whisper.

The older wooden walls are replaced by newer lacquered wood. Paintings of... what I can only describe as 'contemporary art' dots the walls.

The kitchen is remodeled yet... it still has echoes of what it looked like last.

The fridge is in the same spot, but it's a large silvery one instead of the white it was before. The stove looks to be brand new, the tables and chairs take on a marbled look.

The other are looking around just as surprised as I am.

Magical Manor Master Bedroom:
Well now, isn't this opulent? A bedroom with everything you could ever need. A bed that can no longer be described as 'king sized', that can become divinely soft or as firm as you want. Dozens of comfortable pillows, line the top of the bed, framing the headboard and numerous blankets to keep you as warm, cool and secure as you possibly want, and that is merely one of the amenities this room provides. A work desk with spacious enchanted drawers, a connected bathroom with a tub large enough to be a small pool. Rotating bookshelves which can hold more than what you thought possible. But not only the bedroom and bathroom, this master bedroom spreads out through your entire home, making the surroundings look cosmetically pleasing and share a common theme. No longer will your home look as if it were room stapled on room, now from the outside it'll look as regal as you want.

Huh...

"Well... there's a new master bedroom." I admit. "It sort of... made the house follow like... a theme? Before you could have walked through an in-home theatre and come to a gothic castle gatehouse... now I suppose it kind of follows a single design. I'm... fairly certain it also made the outward appearance of the house shift somewhat."

"Master Bedroom?" Rias slowly asks.

"Mhmm." I nod slowly gazing out over the reward list.

One hundred and ten points left...

I wordlessly grab the 'book on magic of my choice' and pick a very specific magic.

A magic I'll be needing shortly.

"So. One hundred points left." I note as we all as a group get up and search the house.

We eventually find the new bedroom and... wow...

Biggest room in the house.

By far.

It has literally anything you could ever imagine a 'bullshit mages bedroom' could have.

A walk in closet that could comfortably be another bedroom, a bed the size of a fucking trampoline, bedside tables which are far larger on the inside.

A mini fridge filled with numerous drinks that refills daily.

"Huh..." I mutter.

There's a large dresser on the wall with a mirror- a magic mirror?!

oh, it's just a boring one that's quite a bit durable than a typical mirror. That's lame.

"Oh look." I hum as I gently move one of the paintings aside. "Painting safe. That's neat."

Enchanted to be durable and to open whenever I will it.

The knob on the front rapidly spins back and forth, seemingly performing a ten-step combination.

it swings open a short moment later revealing that it contained nothing.

"Well. Worth it. You all cool with me just getting a bunch of spellbooks for the rest of the rewards? It's probably the most cost-effective thing in the entire list. I swear. The book stores in Fiore sell them at rates that are borderline highway robbery."

"Mn. I'm in support." Seilah instantly nods.

"You ARE a book! You're biased!" Rias protests. "Couldn't we get like... more rooms? Look how good this one turned out!"

"The rooms are random, Rias. We could get anything from a magic fountain room to a dungeon... a 'rare' quality dungeon... whatever that means... magic handcuffs maybe?"

"W-Well the books are random too!"

"Ah. But here's the thing. Even a 'useless' book could potentially have some use elsewhere. While sure, getting an indoor gym would be cool. There's genuinely no way we could know what we're going to get. Could be a magic closet. Could be an entire blacksmith forge or indoor gym."

"What about getting another 'base' reward? This crafting room doesn't have a rarity attached. That means it could be anything from super mundane to like... uh... I don't know... the spot where the rings from lord of the rings were forged?"

"sure." I note. "It could be good, I could even get a legendary or some sort of godly room, but it could be for something I'm not equipped to- or knowledgeable enough- to deal with. Like, it could be a room specifically designed to create new spells or it could be a room to create artisanal magical cheeses. So. I'd much rather have the books and crafting books as for the latter I can pick something out- and I have a vague idea already- as for the prior, most will be mundane garbage, but there's enough that there will probably be some hidden gems here and there."

"Fiiiiiine." Rias pouts. "You can get the books."

"YES!"

[Split]

I open a book, read the first word, then simply requip it away into my personal storage.

It's actually getting a little full now that I think about it. I may have to go back to the gold bar method and see if I can't feed it a little more magic.

"What was that?" Natsuki blinks.

"A surprise tool that will help me later." I smile warmly.

"Whut?" She mutters.

I requip it back into my hand briefly and tap the cover.

Her eyes dart across it, widening as I place it back in my requip space. She flinches back, crimson blush on her face. "Wh-bwuah- why did you-"

"I missed it!" Rias declares as she sits a small box on the table. "What did he get?"

"H-He..."

"Natsuki, want to help me test it out?" I smirk smugly.

"BWAH!" She gasps. "U-Uh... I-I don't... know?"

"I'll... think about it." She reiterates after a brief moment to get her emotions under control.

Rias looks between us in suspicion.

THUD

An absolutely massive box is placed on the table.

As I interlock my fingers, a grin forms on my lips. "Let's see what we've got!"

I open the small box and reveal a singular mildly destroyed book.

"Huh?" Rias mutters. "What is... is this ripoff?!"

There's no cover on the book and from what I can see there's only like twelve coherent pages in the entire thing. The rest is completely gone.

"Piss." I scoff. "I knew when I went looking for this crafting skill I likely wouldn't find much, but twelve pages?"

"What... is it?" Rias asks slowly.

"It's a book on how to make items akin to Celestial Spirit Keys." I inform, offering the destroyed book to Seilah. "Seilah, could you go scan that right away? It's looking quite damaged and I don't want to accidentally ruin it any more."

She looks over the book with a faint smile then nods once. "This book is truly ancient. Likely far older than even my creator. It should be kept safe."

"Why exactly are you looking to make celestial spirit key-adjacent items?" Rias questions.

"Well, there are apparently A LOT of celestial spirit keys that have been broken, and I was hoping that the spirits in question might reappear if I were to create something that could suitably hold them."

The redhead shrugs as she looks to the much larger box. "Alright, I can see why you'd want to do that... you want to collect them all, right?"

"I do." I nod once, reaching up and slashing the tape, allowing the box to be opened.

Dozens of books are stacked on top of each other, a grin slowly crossing my lips as I gaze down at the sheer KNOWLEDGE I'm about to gain.

I lift the first book. "Bite... magic?"

"I've got wind magic here... looks to be nothing out of the ordinary." Rias lifts a second book from the box.

"Blood magic?" I hum as I grab a third book.

That one actually kind of begs for a closer look. I'll put it in the 'read soon' pile.

Koneko joins in. "Mn. Bubble Magic."

"I've got... White Fire magic?" Natsuki blinks. "Doesn't that mean it's like... really REALLY hot?"

"Depends." I shrug. "I'm fairly certain there's 'rainbow fire' magic out there. Could just be an offshoot of that."

Steam magic, a book that technically doesn't teach magic but teaches how to feel your own magical energy in order to LEARN magic, Clay Magic, Lightning Magic, Fire Maker magic- something that's also going into the 'read soon' pile.

The next couple are relatively mundane. Earth magic, fire magic, another book on wind magic that's from another author, Mud magic, and Water Magic.

A lot of the books seem to have overlap, honestly.

Two more common fire books, three more wind, another book on water magic- combined with the one I already had, brings me up to three copies of books for water magic, stone, rock, and earth magics- which are technically different-

It might be better to just say the actual GOOD books we got from our little loot box.

Blood magic and fire maker magic- as previously mentioned- Speed magic, Rainbow Water magic- me mentioning rainbow fire seemed to jinx us- Ritual Magic, Missile Magic- yes, really- COLOR Maker magic, Alcohol Magic- God rest my soul if either Cana or Gildarts ever finds out- Seasonal Magic, and finally. Golemancy.

Now...

To list the ones that make me genuinely start to question things.

Bread maker magic, Ball magic, sock puppet magic, carbonation magic, FUCKING... stink magic.

The first could be useful for my eventual 'making maker magics', the second is just... kind of confusing. A magic controlling balls? The third makes me have DOZENS of questions, most of which being variants of 'why' and Carbonation magic? Natsuki could probably get some use out of it to try and make a soda of some sort.

Actually, it and Bread Maker Magic might play nicely with her cooking magic.

Anyways, of the fifty books we got that was supposedly 'weighted' towards weaker magics I still got ten 'powerful' magics. My luck is once more absolutely CRACKED.

Well.

'powerful'

I haven't read them yet. They just sound interesting, though... and interesting magics typically are stronger.

Of the group, Fire maker, rainbow water, ritual, missile, color maker, and alcohol might be a bit on the weaker side. But Speed, Blood, Seasonal and Golemancy?

Those four are bound to be potent.

Now...

There's only one final thing to decide.

My chat group.

"Open! Gate of the maiden! Virgo!"

Ding Dong

"Yes master?"

The woman appears with a few scrolls and books trapped within her arms.

"..."

"What are... you doing?"

"I'm trying to find depictions of all the older celestial spirit keys..."

"Oh... for... me?" I blink slowly.

"Yes, Master! If you can do what you say, the Celestial Spirit King will even give you a boon! Not to mention first dibs on contracts with all the celestial spirits you recreate!" She smiles brightly.

"Virgo... don't get your hopes up... really... I doubt I'd be able to do this."

"You must not be aware, Master... but you're quite the talk of the spirits within the Celestial Spirit World. You're the strongest summoner we've gotten in hundreds of years! Fornax has been bragging about being able to forge dragon bone... and, well... if anyone can make replacement keys... it'll be you!"

"I've actually got another question... when a key shatters it reforms elsewhere, right? How do celestial spirit keys get 'broken'?"

Her expression grows slightly strained. "Well... Master... it's mostly when the keys get lost... but there were some weapons in the past that was powered by celestial spirit keys. Powerful weapons. Monstrous. Akin to that weapon your magic council calls 'etherion'... the issue is, these weapons drained the keys used to charge it in their entirety which also drained the constellations they were connected to."

"Oh..." I whisper.

"So, did you need something?" The woman tilts her head.

"I- ah- was going to my study to copy books and was hoping you could make me a milkshake, but you're clearly busy-"

"NONSENSE!" The spirit booms. "These dusty books and stuff can wait!"

[Split]

I sit there, milkshake in hand, blinking down at the massive stack of books that need copying.

Well.

Might as well get to it, I guess.

Thankfully this copier is very hands off. Just put a book in, tap how many copies you want, paper and ink is created and it's leatherbound.

My eyes stray towards an archive window as I take a sip of my drink.

Please select one singular word to base your chat group off of.

From what I can tell, I pick a single word and a bunch of people relating to said word is added to the group chat.

Like, I could pick blacksmith for a bunch of blacksmiths. Or 'mages'.

But personally... I was more thinking...

'Magic'.

Just 'magic' might get me some interesting stuff!

Sooo.

Let's go 'Magic'!

A chat group has been created.

'Fairy Wizard' has been added.

'Fairy Wizard' has been set to 'Moderator'.

Wait...

I could have picked 'waifu' FUUUUUCK!

Ah well.

Next time, then.

An achievement has been unlocked:

Huh?

Create an upgrade for the system without any assistance:
So, you got this one through technicality. You can record things and communicate through your archive screen, so you've technically unlocked 'Calls and Facetime'.

Please select an upgrade:
Shop Upgrade: Farmer's Market.
Shop Upgrade: Monthly Lootbox (The mundane kind you could get in your past life)
Chat Upgrade: Yearly Meeting
Shop Upgrade: Books predating 1960

Oh... uhh... Cool. I'll think about this later.

My attention is drawn back to the loading bar.

Water Goddess has been added

Water goddess?

I...

Can only think of one water goddess at the moment...

Man.

I hope I'm mistaken otherwise I'm going to have the biggest headache ever from her sheer stupidity.

I quickly type out a first message.

Fairy Wizard: "Aha! It worked!"

Fairy Wizard: "Hello all! You may be a little confused, I have no idea how this is appearing in front of you all, perhaps an app on your phone, spontaneous appearing text within a book, maybe even a channel on a television. (It's a floating screen of archive magic for me). But basically this is a method of communication that I've worked on that should theoretically pierce dimensions."

Fairy Wizard: "I've used it a few times before, but this is the first time I've been able to initiate a dialogue with multiple people at once. One of the features of this is that we can transfer items between ourselves freely, and it's with that hope that we are able to grant ourselves 'out of context' solutions to problems we may all have."

Fairy Wizard: "I've personally been getting into magic item creation and I'm quite skilled with silk maker magic and creating magical clothes. If you'd like any spider silk clothing (That is noticeably more durable than normal spider silk thanks to it being magical) I could be of assistance!"

[Split]

A girl breathes heavily as she lays in the grass, two silvery eyes staring up at the sky as she tries to get her breath back.

She wears dark clothes, reds and blacks; a hooded red cloak rests loosely around her shoulders, mirroring her black hair that steadily turns red at the ends, revealing her hair to actually be a deep shade of red.

"You're going to have to pick a weapon soon, Ruby." A gruff man calls out. "You can't just decide to learn everything because it's cool. You should pick one and stick with it."

"But- But-" the girl sputters. "They're ALL soooooo COOOOOOOOL!"

"Uncle Qrow! How can you make me decide?! How could I ever?! Do I want a chainsaw or a broadsword? A spear or a shield? Should I DUAL WIELD?! And that's not even taking into account ranged weapons! I want something that'll work with my semblance!"

She looks a little dejected, a pout forming on her lips. "When... I figure it out."

"I don't want to learn anything until I know EXACTLY what I'll be capable of! What if I waste my time learning a mace! But then I get a semblance to create slashing waves from any sharp weapon! What if I get a minigun when my semblance lets me charge up a single powerful shot?!"

"Well, you're probably going to get held back a year, then."

"WHAT?!" The girl shrieks, rocketing to her feet. "No! I-I-I can't! All my friends! They- they'll leave me behind! I'll be a complete laughingstock!"

"Oi. Kid."

"T-They won't want to talk to me- I'll lose all my friends- I'll become a shut in! A loser!"

"Kid..."

"I'll never find love! I'll just be forever alone! Living with like fifty cats! I'll be a crazy cat lady! Kids will think I am a smelly weirdo who just-"

"Ruby!"

"Hah?!" The girl flinches. "Y-Yeah Drunkle Qrow?"

"I think you unlocked your semblance." The man with silvery black hair gestures lazily to the side, an amused smirk on his lips.

Ruby robotically looks to the left where a swirl of rose petals forms a small storm.

"Uhhhh."

"So... Rose petals?" Her uncle huffs. "That's familiar. Your mother also had rose petals... but she could teleport between them."

His voice grows fainter as she focuses more and more on the storm, eyes narrowing in exertion.

The dome of rose petals seems to slowly flatten out, the petals stop raging uncontrollably and begin to cling to each other.

It almost looks like... they're forming letters?

Words?

What is-

What is this?

Fairy Wizard: So, what can you tell me about yourselves. I suppose I should go first. I'm from a world where guilds are pretty much everything. Blacksmiths guilds, mercenary guilds, merchant guilds, and, of course, mages guilds. I'm actually in the top mages guild in the entire country, myself."

While she is reading, her uncle comes up behind her, scratching his chin as he looks over the wall of text.

"Huh... so you can build walls?" He mutters.

Ruby looks back at him. "Huh?! You can't... read that?"

"Read what? It's just a large flat wall." The scythe wielder replies with a slow blink.

Ruby looks back towards the wall.

"It's... like... text messages." Ruby whispers.

"Hah? What's it say, then?" Qrow's red eyes dart from the girl back to the rose wall.

"it's... saying that it's... connecting to other worlds?" Ruby tilts her head slightly. "Like... there's one person talking and he's called 'Fairy Wizard'... and he's talking about magic and stuff? But magic isn't real... but... maybe... uh... he said that we can trade stuff? Um... hrm..."

Ruby's mind is moving at a mile per minute.

GASP "MAYBE HE CAN GET ME A MAGIC SWORD!" The girl suddenly squeals. "OH MY GOSH! THIS OPENS UP SO MANY MORE OPTIONS!"

The older man's eyes narrow slightly. "You say it's like text messages and you've got a guy claiming to be a mage and that you can trade items with... this... can you talk back?"

"Um..." The silver eyed girl sputters. "Uuuuuum... OH! Yes! I can!"

"Tell him to prove it." Her uncle suggests.

Ruby raises her hand, rose petals swirl to life around her as they fly towards the wall, they combine and form letters that make contact with it. "P...r...."

Rosebud: "Prove it."

Ruby breathes heavily, arm drooping. "That was... tiring... oh! My name's Rosebud... huh..."

Fairy Wizard: "Alright. You get one freebie. Mainly because of how simple this is and how easy I can make it."

Trade Request:
Fairy Wizard:
Small spool of Magical Spider Silk (300 Yards)
Rosebud:
Nothing

[Accept?] [Decline?]

She holds her hand out towards 'accept'.

She cringes as she feels a small blow to her aura. The wall of petals briefly swirls, creating a hole that the petals dance around.

A small spool of thread sails through the air and thuds onto the forest floor.

"..."

"Well shit." The man hums.

"SWEAR!" Ruby gasps pointing at him dramatically as if she'd just accused him of some sort of vile crime... because she had... swearing isn't nice!

"Yeah yeah. I'll put a lien in the swear jar." He waves off as he crouches down and picks up the spool of thread. "This is..."

"Weird..." He whispers after a moment.

He slightly unspools the thread and loops a small part around one of his fingers.

He pulls, straining for a brief moment before the thread snaps. "Huh..."

His red eyes slowly turn to the silver eyed girl. "This guy do commissions?"

[Split]

Heterochromatic eyes peer over the edge of a large bed towards a nearby desk where a typewriter sits.

A haze of bubbles seems to rest above the typewriter.

That had appeared in front of her as she was writing the play she next planned to direct.

Admittedly it had startled her and that leads to now. Where she is cautiously observing from behind her bed.

NOT. Hiding.

Observing.

A goddess does not hide.

Nor did she squeal like a little girl when that bubble appeared in front of her face.

She struts forwards, head held high. "You, Bubble, are in the presence of a goddess!"

She DOES NOT trip over the corner of her bed, nor does she stub her toe.

"..."

She peeks up from the floor, brushes herself off, then walks forwards, confident that if the need arises she can pop the strange bubble. After all, it's just a bubble.

She pauses feet away from her desk, looking over it with a perturbed frown.

Is that... text?

How... strange.

Fairy Wizard: "Sure, I do commissions, but be aware, I don't take cash. Whatever currency you use would be completely worthless here. Give me something interesting. Like... a unique plant that's abnormal... or like... magical ores."

Rosebud: "We don't have magic."

Fairy Wizard: "Nah. You totally do. When I was creating this little chat group I was searching for 'Magic'. Like, just one word. I could have picked anything. 'Blacksmith', 'Mechanics', 'Assassins', 'Mages'. But I picked 'Magic' because I believed it might have given me a bit more sway with who gets added here. Like, a dragon isn't technically a mage, but it may still be 'Magic'. That sort of thing."

Rosebud: "I'M MAGIC?!"

Fairy Wizard: "Sure. I guess. So, like, what's the deal with your world? Like, what's it called, what do you have to deal with during your day-to-day? World war? Zombies? Please dear god tell me if you have to deal with zombies. Don't be one of those assholes who hides your zombie bite and inadvertently infect four more worlds with that bullshit."

Rosebud: "SWEAR!"

Fairy Wizard: "You're not my mom."

Rosebud: ">:["

Rosebud: "So anyways what's a zombie?"

Fairy Wizard: "You seriously don't have even zombie media? They're basically walking corpses that desire to eat human flesh, they bite you, you get infected and you become one."

Rosebud: "THAT'S SCARY! Do people really have to deal with that?!"

Fairy Wizard: "There are infinite realities of infinite possibilities, Rosebud. So probably."

Rosebud: "Oh... well... we live in cities... have cars... guns? Swords and stuff?"

Fairy Wizard: "Ah, so a pretty typical world, then. That's cool. I've been meaning to get a gun. Most guns in my world come pre-enchanted with 'Guns Magic' and I kind of wanted to try my hand at doing it myself."

Rosebud: "GUNS MAGIC?!"

Fairy Wizard: "Is there anything else you can tell me? Like, the name of your planet?"

Rosebud: "OH! It's called Remnant. Uhhh we have a shattered moon. There's four main cities, Atlas, Vale, Mistral, and Vaccuo. Anything smaller doesn't tend to last long because of the creature of Grimm."

Fairy Wizard: "Stop right there. What's a grimm?"

Rosebud: "YOU DON'T HAVE GRIMM?!"

This is... weird... the white-haired heterochromatic girl decides.

She had scrolled up a bit.

Entirely different worlds?

That's...

Really far-fetched.

Perhaps she should insert herself into this conversation? It may give her some inspiration for a new play!
