KPop Demon Hunters

I know even less about Korean music than I know about Korean film, and I only know two things about Korean film. Every movie about Korea is a bouncy, silly animated movie about having feelings and living your truth for girls to make fan art of and feel seen by, and every movie from Korea is a hardcore violent misery-porn about people mutilating and kicking the crap out of each other for boys to show each other in college and say "Hell yeah bro this is real cinema".

This is one of the former, as is implied by the word KPop in the title. As far as I know, pop is the only form of music allowed in Korea, and soon it will be the only form of music in the rest of the world. The Kpopification of culture cannot be stopped, and I'm too old to care if it should be. I don't even know what I'm talking about.

Korean artists who make other kinds of music are damned to obscurity. There's a chick I follow who makes the most beautiful soft indie rock in the world, and she has like 12 followers. No, I won't tell you her name. She's mine, and I will gatekeep her forever, because she brings me a serenity the rest of you don't deserve.

I suppose that makes me part of the problem, because if she ever had any mainstream success at all, her music would unite the world like Bill and Ted were supposed to, but I would be forever surrounded by posers and casuals.

The rest of you, enjoy your corporately manufactured K-Slop, plopped out of an A.I.'s butthole. You'll never be as cultured and in tune with the underground as me. All my favorite artists are name-your-price nobodies on bandcamp who can't afford groceries, because I'm all about the music, man.
