Request Rat - MOUTHWASHING

What an enlightening round of requests this was. I made no actual profit because I set it obscenely cheap and many of your requests were asinine, assy, Hellish, and Smellish. But this is the last, best, and Helliest of them all. So it gets the honor of a nice, normal, concise, and lucid review. The game is enough of a trip on it's own, it doesn't need my help to sound like a spiraling nightmare because it legitimately is one.

Mouthwashing is great and doesn't take long to get through, my hot latina dentist said the same thing but I didn't believe her. We got some real scary atmosphere and sound design here, along with some memorable, complex characters, and a disturbing story that goes all-in on misanthropic madness and vile human depravity. There's all kinds of fucked up shit in this one.

It's a narrative style game, mostly walking and talking. There's no fighting, just a little bit of sneaking, and some baby-brain puzzles here and there that basically amount to fetching an item and reading directions. So anyone can play it, and no one has an excuse not to.

For an indie game that I'm sure was a made cheaply and by a small team, Mouthwashing is remarkably whole and practically perfect. No bigger budget or massive developer could have made it better because it's totally unique and exactly what it's supposed to be. It feels thoughtful, artful, and deliberate, and it doesn't waste your time with any pointless fluff.

The game is so creative in its story, setting, and overall mood that the only thing I can think to compare it to are some of the really good, classic Twilight Zone episodes. It's a little bit sci-fi, and a lot psychological, with characters who slowly reveal new layers to themselves while at each others throats, trapped in a small space.

The basic structure may be reminiscent of a Rod Serling story, but the tone is pure Ellison. There's a harshness to the writing and characters that just drips with bad vibes. Even in moments of humor there's no escape from the grim events taking place, both externally and internally.

You're welcome, by the way, for that very astute Serling/Ellison analogy. It seems my encyclopedic knowledge of 1960s sci-fi writers has finally come in handy for something. I wish I had thought of it sooner so I could say it in the actual video instead of this accompanying text.

I'm almost done kissing this game's butt, I just gotta say one more thing. The graphics kick ass. This is one of the best uses of PS1 style retro-graphics I've seen. The low-poly, jagged and stiff look of everything fits intrinsically with the theme of an obsolete, understaffed, dilapidated spaceship full of underpaid working stiffs who are themselves falling apart.

Everything looks ugly and feels cynical and hateful, just as it should, because you spend most of the game looking through the eyes of an ugly, cynical, and hateful person. It's all so neatly conceived and cohesive with itself. I can admire it as art, while at the same time unloading ass into my diaper because I'm so creeped out.

But enough about my stinky diapers. Mouthwashing smells as fresh, minty, and germ free as the name implies. Like the lingering taste of it's namesake, it'll stick with you.

Good Game. I have spoken, and deemed it worthy.

Requests will... probably... possibly... perhaps return... someday... maybe, ifs and whens I feels like it (and at a much higher price, I assure you). But now it's time once again to live my own life and choose my own adventures. That means I'm gonna talk about whatever dumb shit I want, and you're gonna like it.

Or you won't. Not my concern. But I got some new rewards tiers coming that are gonna blow your ass out, so get your own damn diapers cause I ain't sharin mine.
