Modern culture is entirely fueled by moralizing hypocrisy and thinly veiled jealousy. Anyone who follows a dream or achieves anything is punished for it with a lifetime in the prison of the public eye, to be gleefully torn down for every perceived foible or flaw by the self-righteous and terminally online. So I ask you, in today’s world, who the fuck would ever want to be a rockstar?
Rockstars are supposed to have more foibles and flaws than anyone. That’s why they became rockstars in the first place, they were too cool for school and now it’s their job to continue to be cool for the rest of us. But sadly we live in Gen Z World now, where no fun is allowed and no one can ever be cool again, because being cool is evil. The stupid youth have spoken, and this is the Performative Panopticon they want.
It's gotten so bad that even Dave Grohl, the national treasure who made One by One and slammed the fuck out of those drums on Scentless Apprentice, can’t even slam one baby into one kissless mistress without getting amputated a pound of flesh by the relentless and friendless puritans of reddit.
I say shame the mob, not the man. Anyone condemning a famous person’s personal life is telling you they don’t have one of their own. I stand by the rights of rockers everywhere to be wild, irresponsible, and horny. That’s what makes the music so good.
