when saviours go bad

Dear patrons,

The new video ‘when saviours go bad’ is now uploaded. This one is for Charvi and Anthony. It explores an aspect of drama that I haven’t given a lot of attention — but one which, once I looked at it, ran through so many personal stories.

My continuing thanks for your kind messages of support — and also your reading recommendations. ‘The boy who was raised as a dog’ by Bruce Perry, looking at the impact of early mistreatment in multiple case studies, stands out as an especially moving — and often infuriating — title, for which I must thank Taras. Some themes I’d like to pick up on.

health update

Progress has continued to see-saw — but in a generally upward trend. A nasty bout of covid in July-Sept led to a major flare-up. Non-stop coughing puts constant jarring pressure on the spine. One of my doctors is pushing hard for spinal surgery ‘to speed things up’. Others have warned against it because of the serious risks involved — I’m going with their advice and continuing to take things slow and steady.

On the positive side, large areas of my left leg that had been completely numb since last year suddenly regained sensation a few weeks ago — against everyone’s expectations. And movement in my right leg, which had been locked in a narrow range since last year, has freed up significantly.

tough times

Over the last few months, some people have sent apologies for reducing or discontinuing their pledges because of financial pressures. Please don’t apologise for looking after your needs! You have my gratitude for what you’ve kindly given in better times!

Peace
