rumination | combatting repetitive thoughts

Dear Patrons,

I hope this finds you all well. The new video is currently uploading.

This is for Elizabeth and Hans. There’s been a raft of correspondence about mood disorders in the aftermath of abuse and trauma. Several different areas have cropped up — depression, anxiety and PTSD being the most frequently mentioned. A big common theme has been rumination — the experience of persistent inescapable thoughts. There’s a fair-sized body of research looking at what to do — and what not to do — to tackle this symptom.

As some of you know, a collaboration was planned with QualiaSoup, but he has stepped back from YouTube at this time for health reasons.

I wish each of you peace and strength in the continuing challenges of these times.

Sorry to hear your brother is poorly. Please give him my best.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! ❤ This was tailored perfectly to me, and apparently to a *lot* of other people too. I have a question that's really important to me... Do you have any plans to translate any of the transcripts for your subtitles? I would really like to be able to share specific videos with my Korean-speaking friends, but am not confident with translating them myself since I am not (quite) a native speaker or a professional in your field. If you have plans for this or if you could let me know how to proceed if I were to try to translate them, it would mean the world to me.

I've been troubled by this for many years and it's made life so miserable. With all the lonliness of the lock-downs it's become a lot worse and I've been been at a loss on how to tackle it. This video is really helpful and I really appreciate it. I'll have to review this a few times and hopefully I can put the suggestions into practice. The point regarding having bad thoughts but never acting on them has shifted my perspective and lifted a bit of weight off my chest. Thanks very much Theramin. I really admire what you do.

I think a lot of people will find this helpful considering the times... I know I did. Thanks for all your hard work on this~

Kris Lee

Hope Qualia gets better! 💞

I too have been reckoning with these issues and the trauma. Being in isolation affected me in ways I hadn't anticipated.

Hope Qualia is okay! All the love and support brother!
