People of the Lantern with PlayingBoardGames - Episode 1

A while ago I reached out to Justin from PlayingBoardGames about Kingdom Death, something he'd expressed interest in. PBG do amazing deep dives into Arkham Horror LCG while also covering a bunch of other games. Even though they are mechanically very different, there's so much common ground between Arkham and KDM that I was pretty confident it would be right up Justin's alley.

We ran a private learning session on the KDS and Justin was hooked enough that he wanted to do an entire campaign playthrough. So that's what's happening here, we're running through a pure no frills People of the Lantern campaign from start to whatever end comes.

Quick additional note, playing on the KDS means stuff is going to occasionally get missed, not only is the FoV too narrow for me to be able to keep everything I need in vision at the same time but also we're playing about 4 to 5 times faster than I normally play in physical. So teaching + talking + strategizing + playing and also the PBG guarantee means it's not going to be perfect. Which is AOK, because once Justin's up to speed on the rules we can share the load.

At the end of the video, we forget to add the +1 Hunt XP for the completed prologue on the survivors. That is fixed by the second recording, if anyone comments about that, let them know if I don't!

I'll be putting these posts up every two weeks when the video is released on PBG's channel. I hope you enjoy.

Thanks, I wish they'd provide user documentation and also allow us to set the default draw type for each deck. It's an improvement though!

Catching up, saw you mention the card auto flipping. In the rt-click menu there is now a Draw Face Down option. Unfortunately no way to hotkey it yet, but at least will avoid looking at AI cards as you apply wounds.

Oh nice! I somehow missed this. Been a PBG Patron for a long time, so I will have to follow along for this.

Some rules just don't stick easily, I think the border movement one is because there's two different situations both involving being pushed into the border and it's hard to remember if you crunch into it and stop or slide along it! KDM is a complicated game, a lot to remember at this pace.

Very nice to be able and follow a full campaign again. [Watched it] : welcome to Kingdom Arkham Death Monsters' Horror 😊, where investigators get to strike white lions and seekers speak the first words. Loved it ! Also, I am sortof relieved that you still have to check the border edge mouvement rules sometimes. Same for me. For some reason, some very rare, arcane rules I never forget, yet this one, which almost happens once per showdown, I can't fully commit to memory.

I’m so pumped to finally watch you play!

I play Arkham Horror LCG about once every two weeks or so (sometimes more often when a new campaign set has come out).
