"Dinosauria" Update #25: The sweeter side of dinosaurs.

When I started brainstorming ideas for the "Dinosauria Series" I planned on experimenting with a different tone and genre per episode, each idea being very different from the next. One idea being almost like a western showdown, another being a straight-up horror film, and another being a surrealist love story, etc. But as the series progressed; all five of the final films have started to conform to a certain tonal norm across the whole series.

I mention this because "A More Ancient Spring" is the only film in the series that I feel still has some of that experimental genre DNA left in it.

This film started as a bittersweet love story about a lonely lambeosaurus during the mating season and was a very abstract, almost surrealist film. As I've been working more and more on the film the surrealist and abstract elements have (mostly) disappeared and it's shaping up to be more in line with the rest of the series but there's still something very fantastical and sweet about this particular film that has survived.

It still has the expected conflict/tragedy but overall "A More Ancient Spring" is a far more pleasant affair compared to the two rather harrowing episodes that proceeded it.

I'm finding the change in tone incredibly refreshing! ^_^
