I have received a copyright claim over "No Monsters" from "[Merlin] DINASTIA MARKET INC SAS" on behalf of "Bad Blood Music" or "Fame 13" over the song used in the film.
I did a LOT of research last night to get to the bottom of this and it has pretty terrifying implications...
"Fame 13"/"Bad Blood Music" did not make the music used in the film, Ross Bugden did. Ross Bugden is a musician who created a huge library of royalty-free tracks for content creators to use and his music appears in approximately half of my short films.
The problem is; he's been inactive for over a year and people have started to steal his music and put it into Youtube's Content ID system as their own, claiming all the ad revenue from all the videos that have ever used it. It seems to mostly be two people by the names "Yael" and "Yunuet" from "Fame 13".
They are taking advantage of Ross' inactivity, stealing his work and using it as a tool to steal money from countless others.
Every single penny that "No Monsters" will earn from here on out will go to some piece of human garbage who stole a song. And if this keeps going; half of my library of short films (including over half of the Autodale films) could be claimed or even taken down which is 100% illegal and seemingly unstoppable.
I've tried to get into contact with Ross, I've emailed Youtube Support, I've even emailed the record label itself but as far as I can tell; without Ross to stop it himself, there's virtually nothing we can do.
If anybody can get me in contact with Ross Bugden that would be amazing.
UPDATE: I disputed the claim and it has been lifted on “No Monsters” but the problem isn’t gone. These people have still stolen Ross’ work and are taking advantage of it. Youtube Support was laughably unhelpful essentially asking me to fight this on my own because they don’t police the Content ID system what so ever.
This is a scam and could still affect half of the films in my library down the line.
