Late October Studies + Following up the Study Demo
Added 2022-10-26 18:22:28 +0000 UTCHelloooo everyone!! I've probably studied more the past few days than I have the whole year. Maybe it was the study demo but I was really motivated to study more these days!!
A lot of it was unfinished and I find them ugly, but I still think they are worth showing!
Following up on the study demo, my goal for all these studies was to find out how to incorporate textures into my work more. It was hard, I don't think I fully did it, but I know I'm one step closer!!
Even with "failed" studies or ones I never finished, I still learned how to approach textures better! Trying not to rely on noise filter or textured paper but rather brushes to bring out the textures. I'm trying to think of it traditionally, how I'd use actual brushes to paint.
Also trying to be a lot looser in my painting approach. There were some times where I didn't want to study photo references AT ALL. I fell back to studying artists and things I liked, you'll see a few Breath of the Wild studies in there!!
I want to say again that if studying photo references seems boring, try studying games, shows and movies that you love. Maybe your love for the media would make you want to study, who knows!
I should definitely try doing more movie studies, I know I would enjoy doing that more than just painting a random street (for the 10th time T_T)

The year is already coming to an end, I feel like I've grown a whole lot as an artist this year and I'm scared but yet excited to see what's in store next year too!!
