MORE ON "THE CARETAKERS OF ANTARCTICA"

Expanded excerpts from OPERATIONAL HISTORY for your perusal. Enjoy...

Admiral Richard E. Byrd, a Naval officer and explorer who claimed to have flown over the North Pole in 1926 in a Fokker Vlla/3m, embarked on an expedition to the Antarctic in 1928, equipped with two ships and three airplanes in an attempt to overfly the South Pole.
Later, Byrd declared that he had indeed flown over the South Pole. However, he and his crew failed to report the alien city with massive black basalt pyramids that were later discovered, photographed, and partially explored by the Pabodie expedition in 1930 near that location. Despite this, Byrd's alleged South Pole overflight earned him a promotion to Rear Admiral by a special act of Congress, making him a national hero. The Pabodie expedition soon followed to Antarctica, uncovering the horrifying secrets in the heart of the continent that Byrd had somehow missed.

I can’t wait for a scenario linked to the Mountains of madness novel!

Oh, and in German the capitalization would be "Giganten des Eises" and it would be abbreviated as G.d.E.

Good stuff. In binomial genus-species nomenclature the genus is always capitalized and the species is never capitalized, so it should be "Pentamembrum excogitatoris" and the author of the report would probably abbreviate it as "P. excogitatoris."
