Dorkfactory Newsletter (Dec. 2021)

We're heading into a new year and the Dorkfactory is working on something special to get things going.

It's time for another first at the Dorkfactory. For some reason people seem to be into the concept of heavily armored, practically immortal, genetically enhanced space soldiers. I myself fall into this category of admirers. For a long time I've thought about doing my own version of one of this concept but I wanted to make sure I could do it justice before jumping in. I spent quite a while thinking of different variations and visual elements that would look cool together and this month I finally sat down and started modelling what I had dreamt up over time.

There's still more I'd like to add and the weapons and equipment aren't ready to show yet but I think this is going to be an awesome base model to make LOTS of different variations off of (because as we all know there are many, many varieties of semi-immortal space super soldiers). To start, they'll be getting a large package of some of the most familiar equipment for that this type of dude likes to carry around. One day hope to cover EVERY option they have (complete insanity, don't hold me to that).

Currently finishing up a whole lot of stuff for the initial release package (Jan 4, 22), and there will likely be more coming out mid month. I'm quite excited to get these posed and print a HUGE pile of them! Hope you all like the design so far.

Tribes!

The Dorkfactory will soon be part of MyMiniFactory's new Tribes service! If you haven't heard of tribes, it's a monthly subscription service that functions very similarly to patreon. In the case of the Dorkfactory, it will be exactly to the same. Some people prefer one platform over another, so I'm hopping on both! Same downloads, same tier costs, same discounts -- really just a matter of your personal preference which platform you choose. Keep an eye out for the new Dorkfactory Tribe early January.

Community Prints

OK, let's check out some prints from the community! This month I want to highlight some of the really nice kitbashes people have done in the last few months. There are a handful of talented hobbyists who are doing some really great custom builds using all or mostly Dorkfactory parts. You can see their work in the dorkfactory discord server and I will try to add more kitbashed designs in future newsletters as well.

But before the kitbashing...
@keith was the first patron to print the new Crawling Terror model and because I didn't get around to printing all the legs on mine for a while, he was indeed the first person in the world to have an assembled crawling terror. Excellent print!

There are getting to be a lot of deadzone patrolbots out there but this orc conversion was a cool new spin! Nice one, @dwayne.

@tegernako has had a couple prints in the newsletter before but I wanted to include some of his truly mind blowing digital kitbashing. Really nice work. 

Well that's all the news for now. The Dorkfactory has been doing great the last few months and I'm focusing on making the highest quality models I can offer. Thank you SO MUCH to the patrons that make all this possible. I can't wait to release the January models and kick off 2022. I think you'll all really like this batch. I'll have a preview of the posed models with weapons and equipment in the very near future.
