Howdy everyone,
Here's a look at what's new in the factory this month.
I've changed up the render style a few times in the past, but I've always gone with a very stylized look. I was always happy with them but I had wondered for a long time how hard it was to know what the models would look like when they're printed. So, this time around, I went for the most realistic appearance possible -- I even put them on a virtual cutting mat, a surface that I think all us hobby nerds can easily wrap our brains around.

I'm hoping these make it super clear what the models look like and what scale they're designed for (though of course you can print them any size if you've got a cool idea).

Plus it's just awesome to line everything up and see what it looks like! These will show up in bulk soon once I finish going back and getting crisp new shots of everything.
...And I'll let you in on a little secret. I've had a special plan for a very particular rendering style that will one day hopefully blow everyone's minds but it's a big project in itself. So these aren't permanent but for the time being I'm super into them for their realism. Hope you like 'em too!

Take a gander at the ⚠️UNPOSED, IN PROGRESS⚠️ model coming up next month. Keep in mind this is the second sculpting pass of 3, so things will get significantly fancier by release time. If you 've been following the in-progress pics on instagram or discord you might notice that the sculpting passes add a lot of detail each time.
These guys will have 2 distinct versions, both with several options. The first version will be out on Oct 4th, and the second version will come out mid way through the month.
Name suggestions, anyone??

Big thanks to Print minis for the gift model this month. They crank out a ton of cool models, and they're super nice people! If you haven't seen their stuff before you should definitely check it out.
And now, for the best part of the newsletter. More and more people send in pictures of their awesome projects with DF models and seeing them on other people's tabletops is easily the best part about designing minis. If you've got a dorkfactory mini project you want to show off, please feel free to send me some pics!

Demarkil is working on a deadzone patrolbot with some custom arms. Really into the orange and blue OSL(object source lighting), and such a crisp print! Looking great.

Here's something pretty fancy from @lost_between_ashes. Not just a cool metallic green and gold color scheme, but some flourescent magenta paint that looks pretty dang awesome under a blacklight. The intent was "power from inside the machine" -- it worked! looks awesome.
Alright everybody, That's it for now. As always, thank you so much for all the support. The factory gets a little stronger every month thanks to you all. If you want to help me make design decisions and see lots of in-progress updates -- or just talk nerd stuff too -- make sure to hop on the discord server! Also, if you're not a patron but like these updates, give the dorkfactory a follow on patreon to stay in the loop:)
'Til next time my friends,
~Charlie
