November Mid-Month Newsletter

So the last month of modelling was another interesting new frontier: Modular builder kits. I gotta say, I like it. having a bunch of pieces that you can reuse for different kits is really cool. I'm still really into sculpting full characters, so I'm not switching over for good but you'll definitely see both methods going forward.

In addition to that, I finally sat down and forced myself to start trying to git gud at supports. It's taken my own prints to a much higher level of quality and since I did the groundwork, I figured I might as well pass the supported files along to you all and save some time! On my own tests, I get almost no fails these days and far, far fewer pock marks from supports. I'm no expert though, so if you've printed my stuff, please let me know if you have any issues and I'll gladly address them.

Anyway, I recently set aside a little time for the hobby (the obsession that got me into all this in the first place but I hardly have time for these days!). It was real nice to slow down and just paint stuff for a bit again. I was pretty pumped to experiment with the modular kits so I assembled some of the test prints from both kits and painted them up.

You might notice something familiar about the "Android Agents." I've had Sicarians on my mind for a while as my admech kill team could really use a few and the android kit seemed perfect for a conversion.

Like last month, I'll be posting their weapons for free on thingiverse in case they come in handy for printed bits or if other modelers can put them to use. I don't know how often I'll be remixing monthly models to be proxies for other stuff but it's pretty satisfying so you'll definitely see it again here and there.

What's Next

Next month's model is gearing up to be pretty awesome. No previews yet but keep an eye on the Instagram. I'm super glad that "Mother of Demons" won the vote. If you read the blurb I wrote with the poll, you might have seen mention of Daemonculaba. They're entities from Warhammer 40k lore that truly live up to the grim dark reputation. Interestingly, when I was researching possible models for December, I found that there are almost no depictions of them. So I'm pretty excited to make a contribution to a chunk of the lore that really deserves a visual aid.

This model will be more in the style of some of the printable-miniature-patreons on the fantasy side of things that release one large, detailed monster at a time. Should be a blast!

Quite a bit on my plate at this time. Hopefully there will be a lot of cool stuff to share in the next couple months but that's it for now.

Keep an eye out for updates and I'll see you all soon!
