It wouldn’t have killed off oil as it’s not efficient. Yes, you can harvest hydrogen from water, and yes, you can burn that hydrogen to run an engine, but that conversion process is extremely energy intensive, and is unlikely to have a net positive output. BMW has done hydrogen combustion engines, and Honda and Toyota have hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, but all of those use hydrogen gas that’s typically a byproduct of the oil industry as that’s much more efficient than electrolysis.

2024-06-24 19:43:43 +0000 UTCAs a fellow engineer, I’m surprised Trevor didn’t speak up more than the short blurb he gave on electrolysis. It’s all a question of energy balance. Using hydrogen as fuel for a combustion engine a known and tested thing, as is using electrolysis to split water molecules and capture hydrogen. The problem is both of those processes are very inefficient, and converting energy from one form to another always has heat losses. In the case of electrolysis, you’re using a lot of electricity to collect hydrogen and use that as fuel when it would have been more efficient to store that electricity in a battery and power an electric motor. Instead, you’re using a LOT of electricity to make a low energy density fuel and feeding that fuel into a combustion engine that’s only about 20% efficient at converting fuel to motion. It’s not a conspiracy, it’s simple physics.

2024-06-23 20:56:25 +0000 UTCOh, I hope they look into the fact that the government has stolen nearly 6,000 patents from people, that were deemed “detrimental to the national security” under the Invention Secrecy Act. Meyer's invention was supposedly one of these patents. It would've destroyed the oil industry. This agency program was founded in 1945 by the engineers of the Manhattan Project… 🤔 A lot of people that supposedly had these patents taken from them have had some mysterious things happen to them, including disappearances & deaths. There's a lot of stories out there, about these patents, feel free to research them, if it interests you.
