Octane Render Settings
Added 2024-06-20 12:43:49 +0000 UTCI have touched on this before but I just want to go over my Render Settings for Octane.
My Redshift settings aren't too different when comparing but that's for another post.
Render Settings are so simple. Don't over complicate it. I am nearly always using 2048 samples for 80% of my renders except really tricky ones. I might push them to 3000-4000.
Never any higher. It will not actually eliminate the noise in your scene. 9 Times out of 10 Noise is being caused by lights arguing with eachother, or materials. Or lights arguing with your materials and not liking them. To put it in as simple terms as possible.
Lights do not like other lights usually. Especially when there is lots of them.
Tips to avoiding noise -->
Keep the amount of lights in your scene low.
Align their sample rates.
Use denoiser on every render (duh).
Leverage HDRI's instead of using more lights.
Denoiser should be used on everything. In my opinion. It's too good. I usually put the Blend value to 0.1 - 0.3
I never usually leave it at max strength to prevent the image from being muddy if the noise is intense.
I also think it's important to note that some scenes you make will cause noise no matter what. That's why always leaving the denoiser on is vital.
Render Settings:
(Highlighted values are the only values I've changed from default. In larger scale scenes Ray Epsilon can come into the equation, but rarely for me at least)

Would love a post like this on your redshift settings!
