Investigating the Vampire Castle, Cancel Culture, and Jung's Shadow | Nightmare Tonight

Very interesting listen, thank you both... Listened to it on the way home on the bus and I was gripped. Cancel culture is something that worries and scares me too much, I witness it everywhere and I think it's one of the most pervasive, insidious problems in internet culture right now. I don't think enough people talk about it like this. In addition to the aspects you spoke about; social capital incentives, catharsis, etc. I find the way the victims are intentionally dehumanized very scary. Another issue which I think is adjacent but discreet is purity culture, perhaps most noticable in certain fandom spaces, especially LGBT areas. The cancel culture discourse I encounter most often is this type, where people are outed and condemned for expressing or depicting perverse ideas. There is something going on with fandom fiction which feels almost catholic. Protect the kids, destroy the perverts, etc. Dogmas against very well defined "sins". I believe cancel culture shows itself in these spaces very strongly for some reason. I hope someday there will be people who bring it up, or we can work past it, because it only seems to be getting worse. Anyway, thanks for the ep! Take care.
