just btw, bands like Coldplay, Keene, Doves, Muse, Ash, Elbow and many others, exist in the after effects of what Radiohead did to the British rock scene after The Bends and OK Computer. They are all worthwhile to explore but everything changed in Britain after that. Pulp - Different Class is worth reacting to. I adore this album but Radiohead rather killed it at the same time along with Blur's Parklife which is alson a classic record

The first time I personally noticed Radiohead was The Bends. I remember when Creep was on MTV and it was a catchy song but it was just this song following the zeitgeist of Nirvana and then I forgot it again. Then, one day I was in the VCU student commons eating a taco or whatever and I heard Street Spirit. I remember thinking 'wtf was that'. I don't remember who told me but i learned it was radiohead. I actually had a housemate who had been talking about The Bends album who i lived with but I had just thought it was cool he liked some stuff I wasn't listening to. However, after that experience at the student commons i asked to borrow the album and listened to it. That was my first Radiohead experience. It is a funny thing because I was into Pulp and Blur and Brit Pop didn't know it but they had been rendered obsolete when The Bends came out. The entire game changed. However, those guys were running high along with Oasis and maybe they thought The Bends was a one off. Obviously, after OK Computer it wasn't ignorable and traditional 90s Brit Pop was as dead as fried chicken just like 80s metal was after Nirvana. Radiohead entirely changed the rock landscape in the late 90s and early 2000s. And, their following output wasn't shabby either. If I had to grade it one to five their discography is pretty special. Pablo Honey - 2 The Bends - 5 OK Computer - 5 Kid A/Amnesiac - 5 Hail to the Thief - 4 In Rainbows - 4.5 King of Limbs - 4 Heart Shaped Pool - 4 The most amazing thing, though, about Radiohead is I can only think of two other acts that so profoundly improved on their initial output twice. One is the Beatles who did as much multiple times from Hard Day's Night through Sgt Pepper. Like, they got so much better over a course of three or more albums as to almost not be recognizable from the previous ones. The other is Michael Jackson who went from the Jackson 5 late 70s stuff to Off the Wall which is a classic record and then even improved on that with Thriller. Radiohead is a truly special band who accomplished things very rapidly that i am positive will be chronicled by musicologists even 200 years from now.

I have followed you guys for at least 4 years and thanks for doing Radiohead again. I recommend from here you do Kid A and Amnesiac at the same time. Both are of the same recording sessions and the same writing period. Amnesiac sometimes is reduced to a b-side album but this is not due. Listening to these separately is like splitting the White Album by The Beatles. It is intended as one program
