2025-03-03 00:46:42 +0000 UTCBack in the 90s the Canadian animation studio Nelvana nearly got the greenlight from the BBC to produce an animated adaptation of Doctor Who for television. In a recent issue of the Doctor Who fanzine Vworp Vworp (issue five), an issue that covered a whole range of attempts from anime to Scooby Doo to Nelvana, they included a wealth of concept art from the Nelvana attempt, including a lot that hadn't been seen anywhere else until that issue. One bit of concept art to come to light was Nelvana's take on the Rani (their take on the Master was, uh, certainly a number of choices - honestly, I'd love if the show just brought the Master back like that and provided absolutely no explanation for it).
