Is there a way to download my books if I don't have a Kindle? I only used the Kindle app on my phone or on my computer and didn't download the books before February. Thank you!

2025-05-14 22:00:29 +0000 UTCmany newer books on amazon are in this format, it just depends on the book sadly. if you search around on reddit there are ways to get around this by using an old version of the kindle app on PC, but it's too much to explain in a comment :-)

2025-05-13 11:57:34 +0000 UTCIf you are hooking it up via the cord, in order to have it not show as an external (on my PC) at least, you need to go into preferences>ignored devices and then reset the allowed devices. When you turn off the kindle plug ins when you do the jailbreak (so you can do the wireless Calibre connect) it makes it so the devices don't show. I had to do this tonight when I hooked up my non-jailbroken kindle to my laptop. The device now shows and I can see it all and transfer like I did before. It is just a quirk, I think, of being able to use the Calibre plug in for KOReader and transfer wirelessly directly into KOReader--which is great, but if you are messing with more than one reader or still getting regular Kindle books on the device outside of KOReader (like Libby, KU, etc.), you are going to have to switch back and forth on enabling the plug-ins and also the ignored devices. At least that is the fix I found, if someone else has a better work around, I am all ears.

I did the whole Kindle jailbreak today (I am pretty bad with tech stuff and was a bit scared, but it went great!) because I've been having problems for a long time (at some point Kindle decided to stop showing ALL of my personal articles and work-related documents, for example). My only problem was that some books I bought years ago through Kindle are literally impossible to find now (pretty obscure ones, indie authors, etc.) and I wanted so desperately to keep them, so this video made me so happy, man. I am doing this tomorrow to save those books, thank you so much for your hard work, I have no words to tell you how much it means to me to save and preserve my digital library like this.

I have both the KFX input and DeDRM plugins installed. Might anyone have any ideas about why this is happening?

2025-04-18 01:01:31 +0000 UTCIf your images don't look like they've made the transition, I'd suggest clicking "Convert individually," and when you click "Page setup," you should select "Tablet" under "Output profile." It seems to leave the images unscathed like this, regardless of the format you're converting to.

I recently bought a kobo libra colour like right after they shut down the usual ways to transfer and convert from amazon kindle. This was so quick and much easier than the other methods I tried and failed. Am I correct in that now I can just transfer the epubs to my kobo or do I need them to be converted to a different format?

It's useful for removing DRM from university Adobe acrobat textbooks, that they only let you have for a day and you can't use anything other than a pc or smartphone pretty much, also useful for kindle books and much more. Calibre is great too, been using it for like 7 years now and it's helped manage my growing library that's probably at a couple hundred million words now (I used the count pages plugin to figure that out). If you guys like web novels, the best program to use it lncrawl, it's available on GitHub or you can use their discord bot to search and scrape for novels on 100s of sites and get an epub, pdf, mobi, etc output.

The closest thing you can get is your kindle probably has a file (forgot the name, I think it's clippings or smth) that has a record of every highlight you've done, even deleted ones, with a time, date and page number.

2025-04-10 04:58:24 +0000 UTCFor books that became KFX-ZIP when imported to my library (even when using DeDRM version 10.0.9), I managed to fixed them by downloading Kindle for PC 2.4.0 from the bottom of this site: https://www.epubor.com/how-to-remove-drm-from-kfx-zip-files.html, downloading the books I wanted, and importing the .azw files into Calibre from Documents/My Kindle Content! This also has the benefit of colored covers, which the books I imported from my Paperwhite did not have.

You probably installed the 10.0.3 since it was the “stable version”. Deleting that version and installing 10.0.9 worked like a charm. Most of the books that showed as KFX ZIP now show as just KFX.

So it's just a "book" that you're supposed to run. You can find the full .sh file that you're supposed to download, in the kindle modding discord https://dsc.gg/kindle-modding Go to the scriplets channel, download the .sh file, and then drag and drop that file into the root of your kindle. Restart your kindle, and when it reboots, you'll see a book that's called "Remove ADs". Open it. Annnnd you're good! Let me know how it goes. :)

I do have one separate question though... in the video on youtube you mentioned removing ads and showed a script. I screenshotted that but I have no idea where to go from there. Could you point me in the right direction?
