0422 - Cop
Added 2025-03-06 09:00:05 +0000 UTCPart of this episode includes the family Simpson driving across the country to meet Herb, and a few simple gags and scenes emerge from this road trip. Homer's encounter with this cop is one of them.
It's a minor appearance, but it establishes how important Herb is in this area. He's not just rich, he's "cops don't bother you" rich. It also hints how alike Homer and Herb appear - Abe must have very strong genes as their third half-sibling, Abbey, also bears some resemblance to them (Season 15, "The Regina Monologues"):
Anyway, this cop was willing to lay down the law until he thought the driver he pulled over was rich, so boooo to him. He's a contender for the "worst character of season 2" award, an award I will never make or give out, because whoever wins it doesn't deserve an award, because they are the worst. It's a real catch four-hundred-and-22.
