August 2022 Monthly Update

Hey everyone,

After an extended workcation for the past couple months, we're all home again and back at work on our different projects. Even with the time away, we've still been getting a lot done. Here's where everything's at:

-We released the demo for Lock & Key: A Magical Girl Mystery early last month! If you haven't checked it out, you can do so on Steam or itch.io. It's the first game being directed by Rachel, who was my co-writer for Heart of the Woods, and the first game she's written since then too. If you like magical girls (and mysteries) then you're sure to like this one too. Plus, the soundtrack slaps, especially the transformation theme. The full game should be out early next year, so there's not too much longer to wait

-Please Be Happy is getting closer and closer to being complete, and will be coming soon! The last of the writing and editing are happening simultaneously, while adi and our new programmer Z have been working hard on the scripting and programming. We're going to start booking sessions with the voice actors and getting all that recorded soon - VA is one of the last steps to happen in the development process, since the writing can't be changed after the voicing for it is done. As before, it's too early to give a release date, but we're still aiming to have it out before the end of the year.

-We have a new Bellhouse title releasing very soon: Who is the Red Queen? By 4noki will be coming to Steam later this month! This game is a dark, horror-esque Alice In Wonderland story that's very different from anything else we've released. A detailed content warning is available at the start of the game, because it certainly won't be for everyone. This updated edition of the game adds new art and music, as well as an improved script and a Spanish translation, so if you've already played the original game jam version, it'll be worth revisiting.

Thanks for another month of support - we're looking forward to having some new games for you all to play soon! It's been a few years now since Heart of the Woods came out, and we're all itching to release something new. We're almost to several finish lines, so we appreciate you sticking them out with us!
