New Creative Series - Dates
Added 2018-09-16 07:18:09 +0000 UTC
Hey everyone,
This week we’re introducing a new, ongoing creative post series. Every so often, we’ll be giving y'all a couple options for characters to go on dates with. You’ll get a couple details about what each girl is like. Hobbies, what she’s looking for, the kinds of places she likes to go on dates, stuff like that. What you’d see on an online dating profile, basically. We’ll open it up to voting for a couple days, and whichever character wins the poll will get to go on a date with our protagonist. Then, after that’s over, you guys will be able to vote again. Second date with that character, or try going out with someone new? We want to let you guys vote for what stories you want to see.
The protagonist will be the same throughout the whole thing. In fact, we have a few different options for the protagonist below. Whichever one wins the vote will be our main character - forever! For now, we’re keeping all the characters in this completely original, although in the future you might see girls from some of our games appear as dateable options.
We’re not going to be replacing all of our creative posts with these, but you can probably expect to see at least one date a month. We’ll be making the first one publicly available to everyone, including non-patrons, but from there on you’ll need to be a $5+ Patron to read and vote on them. Also, while we might have an occasional illustration to go along with some of the dates, most will be text-only. The art will just be a bonus when we have it.
Our setting is a magical academy. Not a high school, but a university. It’s located near a fairly big city and has easy access to all sorts of locations like museums, amusement parks, and even the beach. While not everyone can use magic, everyone is aware of it and of the people who can use it.
Just below are the options for the protagonist. Vote for which one you like best, and remember, she’ll be the main character for a long, long time! Names and more detailed personality info (as well as maybe a proper title) will be provided in the next post, after voting has closed.
Have fun, and let us know any ideas or things you’d like to see for upcoming dates in the comments!
Option A) Our protagonist is the new Apothecary teacher at the academy, specializing in potions and herbal magic. She's bashful and withdrawn by nature, but is pushing herself to be a more open person. She hopes this new job will be a fresh start for her.
Option B) Our protagonist is a fourth year student who specializes in culinary magic. She learned how to cook to impress girls but it turned out it was the only actual thing she's ever been good at. Still not so good at the impressing girls part though. Vague existential dread about what she's going to do after she graduates.
Option C) Our protagonist is a first year student. In high school, she was the top of her class and easily successful. Now, she's found herself to be just average and is way out of her element on her own. Trying to figure out which aspect of magic she's most interesting in studying.
Option D) Our protagonist is a teacher's aide working on her thesis. Her research is revolves around blood magic and is quite rigorous, and as such she's always very tired. She's also very goth.

I joined literally moments after the poll closed. Not that it makes much difference since option B was a runaway train. Hopefully in the future there might be some love for characters that are post-graduation. Not that I don't enjoy the stories about kids and all. It's just that most anime and anime-based material depict women as either =/< 25yo or crones. There's not much attention to the range between...and very different from men where there are tons of middle-aged depictions. It's why I squee when we get a good mom character like Kaname Junko or a kick butt spear wielder like Balsa. Even if the teacher in A or the TA in D isn't the protagonist I hope that they get quite a bit of loving attention as characters. :-)
