Temples of Radiance

Each relic was a precious treasure acquired through arduous expeditions beneath the icy veil of the North.
Yet, the march of time has seen the waning might of witches and sorcerers, leaving the Church unassailable. Sprawling human cities now arise around the Radiance temples, wherein the relics find their esteemed abode. They repose within the hollowed sockets of the altar's Visage that briefly open during congregations to suffuse the faithful with resplendent light.
These temples and cathedrals have evolved into not only spiritual epicentres but also fortresses of the Church. Deep within their recessed dungeons, Shrine Bearers concoct elixirs of communion and lay the deceased to rest. Magnificent libraries stand as bastions of knowledge while neophytes receive tutelage and ecclesiastical trials unfold.
The temple complexes also accommodate the local clergy and their esteemed guests. While not all clergy members choose austere retreats, opting instead to lease houses or chambers, the most selfless or destitute among them are assured a refuge, shielded from the perils of homelessness and hunger.
