3D Arches - Finally. R17wip4 + a simple raytracing test shader

Hey!

I continued working on R17
Here are the changes:

R17 is almost done. A few models are still not finished (crossbow e.g.) Also, performance is still an issue, I'll try my best to optimize the lower res. versions as much as possible. But R17 will definitely be more heavy than the previous packs - mainly because it can be used as a standalone pack - it does not require older content (R16/R15 etc)

In the last ~3 weeks we received a lot of great screenshots on our discord server.
Really worth checking out the #fancy-screenshots channel for inspiration.

Some raytracing shader tests:

As mentioned in my last post, I'm currently trying to learn coding minecraft/glsl shaders.
Here is a super simple raytracer running in minecraft:

(gif) a moving lightsource with raytraced shadows.
I also added the minecraft sun to the scene (not visible in this .gif because its night)

Thanks! I had already deleted the files since there are a lot more recent versions

Hey! Your shader link doesn't seem to be working. Would be very cool if you could fix that.

Brilliant brother! Simply brilliant! I've been following some(the parts I DO understand anyways!) of the ray tracing/light mechanics, and the work involved in getting ray tracing to look the beautiful way it does it's work. The math involved is simply ENORMOUS! I'm certain what you have released here is nothing short of a months long, herculean effort, with countless thousands of pages of code, most tossed, and some kept. In Sonic Ether's technical blog posts, he's often caring enough to have a simple sentence or 2, at the end of MANY paragraphs explaining the technical intricacies of his efforts... I guess what I'm stumbling on about is: although I may not understand how to go about 75% of the technical work involved in your work, that 25% is more than enough to define the huge amount of effort required to post those 2 AWE INSPIRING pics today! Thank you brother. Your effort never ceases to amaze me... And likely every other of your Patreon followers!

Wow, amazing work! It's incredible the stuff you manage to create for minecraft. I'm fascinated to see where else you go with the shader programming. I hope it's a fun experience.

When will we get cobblestone?
