Multimeter medley

Edit: Third revision - I am happy now with a few small corrections. Welectron hinted that the ugly manual soldering is unusual, I am still mentioning it, but shorter and with an optimistic connotation.

Just a draft, I think this one may be a little bit too fast for everyone to keep up. That and a few references to older videos, which nobody remembers ... I should not be editing in the middle of the night :)

wow, what a catch!

Anyone know who sells the brymen in the usa?

Michael Miller

Great video, keep them coming. Need to get one of those Brymen meters. May be tough in the USA. I did score a Fluke 87v at a yard sale for like 20 bucks

Michael Miller

Thank you!

Giacomo Spina

marcoreps5 will give you 5% off on Brymen and Siglent products

Tantalum's throw tantrums. It's is in their nature.

John McCormick

And interesting to learn how to measure resistance without the test current heating it up.

Alex W

Yes, standard deviation of the measurements is a valuable function. My best meter is a 34401A which doesn't do standard deviation. As a workaround I hook it up to the PC to do the standard deviation and histograms.

Alex W

I will ask before releasing!

Marco Reps

It is a pretty powerful machine indeed, with statistics (mean and standard deviation etc) and an interesting low thermal ohms mode, that claims to measure resistance without heating the resistor with test current. Regrettably the eevblog forum guy seems to have deleted all of his modification posts

Marco Reps

Thank you! Usually I am repeating and rearranging every sentence 3 or 4 times before liking it and after a few hours of that it can be hard to judge how it all sounds to someone else

Marco Reps

I would not worry either, I liked the video a lot, as it is. Lovely instruments by the way, the Brymen and 7081. Looking forward to seeing you using the 7081 (on the LTZ-1000 for example).

Alex W

Don't be too humble - I like the video as it is.

Uwe Zimmermann

I would replace the tantalum capacitors if then you can recalibrate it, otherwise i would wait, the electrolytics in the power supply even right now

Giacomo Spina

Hi, i am planned to buy a brymen 867s and probably the fancy probemaster test leads, all by welectron. I am wondering if there is a discount available, maybe i missed it in some previous post ?

Giacomo Spina

LOL good luck...

Kean

I dunno, but Mr. Welectron has been seen on Patreon before, maybe we can convince him to send one of those next ... along with that Keithley pls 😇

Marco Reps

Why not the Brymen 869s?

Kean
