KX voltage reference assembled ✔️

like 5 minutes ago. That and the lack of all shielding might be causing a little bit of of noise. Or I screwed up somewhere, which is particularly easy with melty film capacitors and tight guarding traces.

Full documentary coming soon to a YouTube channel near you. As soon as OSMU stuff is ordered :)

Great idea, will try!

I had a similar huge problem with EMI with my LTZ1000 circuits, which was not solved with a simple Hammond aluminum enclosure. Placing a common-mode choke on both input and output helped the most (three turns around a large ferrite tube). http://www.eevblog.com/forum/metrology/usa-calibration-club/msg1491958/#msg1491958

They told us in uni all the time: If you have a question, don't hesitate to ask, there's always 20 other people in the room who are wondering about the same thing :) Yes, it is a super stable voltage source that should never change ideally. And yes, with proper shielding the 100µV noise can be reduced. µV noise is picked up on every metal object near power lines and electronic stuff in general

It's me with the stupid questions again: I thought this would provide a known value like exactly 7 volt (just as example) that you could set your measuring equipment against. Or is that what it does - you "just" have to perfect shielding so it does not change on the last significant digit?

the day after: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz7Xg4mMm7g voltage reference has calmed down, so I've gotta be careful not to startle it

Marco Reps

OK, you are first. You won :) I am almost sure that µV randomness is shielding related. You can also try to use a lead acid battery to supply the reference, I think this is what XDEV did.

I keep my uranium and plutonium in mine.

Get the indiana Jones lead refrigerator, hide inside and do another measurement
