IoT stuff is usually scoffed at but ...

... when a thing has kilometers of wireless range and years of battery life, that might change?

Oh that might be a perfect introduction to the video ... "Aren't you sick of the limited range of you IoT toaster? ...."

I always thought IoT was Internet of Toasters.

Man, that Spiess guy is a hard worker, if he decided to pick up silly humor I might have some real competition there ... :)

There's a guy on the BackShed forum who does lots with LoRa - ties it to balloons and then tracks them for hundreds of Km across Europe... I'll see if I can find a link - he also did a $50 satellite and used LoRa for the up/downlink with zero problems (2000Km at the horizon!)

LoRa, LoraWAN SX1301, LPWAN, ... lot of terminology around this thing, WiFi, USB-C, UART and Bluetooth Low Energy are also in there somewhere. Gotta finish the laser video, then I'll have a closer look at this pile

LoRa? (hey! you have the same heatgun as me :o)
